He must love coaching. He made a lot of money at UCLA and St. John's and makes good money on television.

Given that under Perry W, we beat Lavin at UCLA in the NCAAs and under Ray we beat his St. John's team at the Dicky V court dedication game, do you think we might have extra trouble scheduling USD now?

This guy does not have the last name of Davis. Chatter. Chatter. Chatter. The original rumor was Alabama A&M, not Alabama St...... Davis may or may not move on, that doesn't mean he isn't actively looking for another job. If he stays, I'll keep my promise and leave the board for a minimum of a month (or longer) for being wrong and spreading false info

I notice the chatter has declined. Here’s my best guess: Mike Davis Jr expressed interest in tha Alabama A&M and/or Alabama St jobs, some dingbat heard the name Mike Davis, couldn’t figure out why Sr would leave UD for that job, and said to himself—and others—“my god, Mike Davis must be desperate to get out of Detroit!”

Of these opportunities or perhaps others I am not aware of, which do you think Davis is interested in leaving Detroit for at this relatively late stage of the annual coaching carousel?

I believe the A&M job is still open. I was told that Davis was seeking to leave/looking for another job, possibly in the SWAC. Does it make sense - not at 1st glance, but most of us have no idea what's going on in the Athletic department or in Davis's life. The more I started to think about it, it started to make sense to me based on things I am observing - although a lot of circumstantial stuff certainly doesn't make a truth. The longer this goes on, the more it's looking like he couldn't find anything and will be "forced" to stay. (Don't worry, I've signed up with Oakland's board - if/when I leave, I may take up residence there - they can certainly use and will likely appreciate the info that I like to provide)

Davis Sr. to Alabama A&M makes no sense. As I think Rogo already stated, that job pays a fraction of what we pay and they have horrible facilities, reputation, etc. I don’t care if Davis is unhappy on 6 Mile. He’s not leaving a job that pays $700,000 at a respected institution to go make $150,000 at fucking Alabama A&M. And, I don’t think A A&M is in a position to heavily increase their financial commitment to basketball. It’s not a wealthy institution and it can’t just move some things around and find an extra half million per year for basketball.

I get it - I'm a dumba**. I got some information from a usually reliable source and had the nerve to speak up against popular opinion, and now it looks like I'm probably gonna end up being wrong. Pile on...

Pile on... I’m not saying you’re dumb - you’re one of the most intelligent posters on this board. But, I wouldn’t consider low_madness to be very reliable. As someone else already said, the A A&M job might be for Mike Davis Jr. but certainly not for Sr.

MD Jr is likely the name that was floating around.

Sometimes posting here, when everyone else seems to know what's really going on behind the scenes, makes me feel that way. (BTW I had an online private discussion with a different/nationally recognized type source on line which contributed to my info)

Given the super professional and highly active PR machine at our university, it's understandable why many would fear more bad news.
BTW, Donnie Marsh filled in as head coach at Alabama A&M for one year in between TX Southern and FGCU.
