Personally, I would have kept Collins, for all the reasons others have stated, and the general need for some stability and fairness. Having said that, it still seems to a me a bit strange to see all this chatter about the non-retention of a coach who just went 1-26.

If the school commitment going forward to the program is the same as it has been in the past, they might as well have kept Collins. Before MD's hiring, the school had a real problem in their search for a men's basketball coach, this search will be worst.

Just reading tea leaves but could the Collins dismissal signal that the AD will be sticking around for the foreseeable future? If the plan was for RV to leave this year, seems like the best course would have been to extend the Collins appointment for another year and let the new AD make a decision on whether to offer her an extended contract or go in a new direction after the 2022-23 season is finished.

Hmm, its an interesting thought. Is the AD a position that would be on a contract? Or is he kind of like any other employee and could be terminated (or leave) without a long tail contract to have to pay out on? I would suspect the new Pres doesn't have a full game plan just yet on the athletics front simply since he hasn't been around just yet especially in the role fully. I'm sure he doesn't have a full read on Vowels just yet and understand Vowels vision for running the Athletics org - and then but that up against what the new Pres' view is on athletics in the bigger picture of the university as a whole.

I believe Vowels is under a contract. The new prez doesn't take over until this summer and he's not on campus yet.

Right in there trying to see where the problems are, getting acquainted and a feel for what needs to be done. A real committed go getter!🤭

I agree with NC. It’s virtually unheard of for a new college president to start before July 1. Most college presidents are coming from a job where they are already a president or provost, and they finish the fiscal year and prepare things for the next person.

Another negative post about the University, this time targeting the incoming President utilizing the common approach of willful ignorance or heck just general ignorance to try to support the negative posts/views. I guess its an improvement from last weeks posts about: (1) wishing 19 year old strangers suffered serious bodily injuries, (2) body shaming female UDM student athletes (grossest post I've seen on here, surprised Commish has left it up).
If one is THIS negative towards and about something and the university, it would make sense to probably step away from such a negative/toxic thing in your life.

Just because someone does not agree with your point of view does not make them negative. If you want to drink the Kool Aide that is totally up to you. It was posted on here multiple times that the new President was sighted on campus. I was hoping that he was getting acquainted with the gigantic task he is about to tackle and Garibaldi was off reinforcing his parachute. I understand in your culture of double standards that you must feel the cancel culture is a wonderful thing and someone who is out of shape, has had a child or are overweight should be ashamed of their bodies. Did you protest when some on here posted about Hogan showing up overweight? Did you consider that at the time to be body shaming? In the past there were a couple of posters with Numbers in their user names who were constantly attacking Ray and Davis. When I got tired of their posts I quit reading and answering them. I suggest you do the same with my posts. I will not be offended and I will not quit being a Tian Fan because you do not share my opinion or point of view.
