Transfer portal closed July 1st, too late to declare if I'm correct. He can still go overseas, but with covid protocols and lengthy visa waits, this late in the season, it would probably have to be a super lucrative contract. Hope an extra season with us helps the big man work on his outside shot so he might be able to squeeze into the NBA as a pf.

Hope an extra season with us helps the big man work on his outside shot so he might be able to squeeze into the NBA as a pf. As I understand this year's transfer situation, if he did not place his name in the portal by July 1st, he cannot transfer and qualify for the one-time exception for immediate eligibility. However, he could still transfer and gain immediate eligibility with a waiver.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet he's back. Bad news for our intent to win the conference and advance to the NCAA tournament in 2022--the road will be tougher, though we should still be one of the league favorites. Good news in that it makes the conference stronger, gives us another marquis player who will get some national attention. We benefit from a stronger conference. Very few mid-major conferences have three players with the talent of Davis, Baldwin, and Love.

The team's profile says:
We are happy to announce the arrival of Loudon Love, a young 23-year-old pivot (2m03, 118 kg) for the 2021/2022 season!
A graduate of Wright State University , Loudon Love has just completed four full years during which he has been very consistent in his performances. Whether it's in the scoring (between 13 and 16 average points), rebounding (8 to 10 sockets / game) and defense (elected in the best five defensive of his conference this season), Loudon has always worn his team towards positive results.
Elected, twice in a row, best player of his conference (Horizon League), he joins prestigious names of players who have been elected MVP of this division such as Kedrick Nunn in 2018 (Miami NBA), Alec Peters in 2017 (Euroleague player in Moscow, Efes, Baskonia), Keifer Sykes in 2014 and 2015 (Euroleague player in Milan then in Pana), Noris Cole in 2011 (Miami NBA, Asvel), Gordon Hayward in 2010 (Utha, Boston, Charlotte NBA) or again Mat Howard in 2009 (SIG, Stasbourg).
A word from the coach
“Lou is a dominant player at the low position, powerful and technical. He has this ability to score near the circle or find players released by two-man grabs. Defensively, he is active, hard on the ground while having the mobility necessary to cover the pick & rolls. He is an excellent rebounder, especially offensive, he was ranked in the top 10 NCAA 1 offensive rebounders in the country. » Rejoices François Sence. “We are convinced that the current team made up of experienced players who complement their game, as well as the structure of the Club can allow Loudon to perform for his first season in Europe and therefore help us achieve our goals! "
A word from the player
“I am very excited to take a new step in my basketball career and turn professional. I am very happy to take this new step with my new teammates from Stade Rochelais! » Explains Loudon Love, « I am impatient to progress individually but also collectively, on and off the court, and to seek victories! The conference will miss him. Personally, I won't miss him playing so well against the Titans.

This cracks me up--there appears to be at least a touch of dissatisfaction with Coach Nagy at WSU. From their board (all different posters, in the last 48 hours):
Now, OK, these are just a few guys on a board. But again, these are 7 different posters, presumably part of the hard-core fan base.
As for the guy they're discussing, in 5+ years at WSU, he has a .669 winning percentage, has won 20 games every year except last year's Covid-shortened season, when his team was 18-6, and he's won three straight regular season conference titles.
Who was commenting in another thread about fans being tough?

Who was commenting in another thread about fans being tough? Yeah, that was me. I know it's not just a Titan thing. You should have seen all the MSU fans calling for Izzo to be fired last year. Some said that Emoni Bates de-committing was "the final straw!". Takes all kinds.

Coach Nagy is lucky that he's not playing his son TJ 39 minutes per game.
