One reason our school does not rush and issue press releases in a legal case like this one is that now the NCAA is implying that it could deem that any player who plays during the next 13 days could use up a full year of eligibility if the NCAA wins after the hearing and enforcement of the waiver is permitted. The judge prevented the NCAA from enforcing the waiver rules, but did not prevent the NCAA from enforcing the rules on determining whether a player used a year of eligibility. The team and Tchikou could decide not to risk that downside by playing in the next 3 games. I'm not saying that they should have released a statement or anything like that, by now. They should be cautious, just like most programs in this situation are being. I'm speaking of when/if he actually takes the floor. I'm just wondering if we will see a release of some sort prior to him playing, or if it will be handled like so many other player appearances and disappearances in Titanland; in secret.

Isn’t that really screwing over the player? The NCAA should be protecting the players and at all times have their interests at heart! Kinda shows what happens when you give authority to people who should never be in a position of power!! How so? If Tchikou had been granted a waiver from the outset and he played, he would use a year of eligibility. Also, by pointing out this fact, the NCAA is protecting its other rules of player eligibility that go beyond getting a waiver of the year in residency rule for 2nd time undergrad transfers who had already used their one-time exemption. The NCAA is saying that a player who was denied a waiver but plays due to the court order is still subject to other rules of eligibility like grades and progress to a degree. How so! They have already hijacked a year of his life. Now they might give him 3 games and call that a year eligibility wise. He already missed a year of development with an injury! So he plays 5 by their standards but really gets 3. I would like to see the Courts give the NCAA a good kick back to reality! The NCAA created the confusion and if the kick back under the table isn’t adequate the hold the player like a penny in their pocket.

With Koka and Waterman, there were no press releases - just verbal statements released to the media. I can't remember how we handled Chris Jenkins when he came eligible for Ray at mid-term. I don't even think our SID has issued a statement or a press release on Alex at all. It just kind of seeps out there from under the SID's door. The women get around this because I think they have a GA or some other staff member that does their own social media. The men used to have a guy like that, but he left several years ago when the school would not spend the money to buy him a more modern laptop.

Did Alex Tchikou attend UDM during the Fall 2023 semester? I believe so. I think our budding sports writer on the board, AKhorey, mentioned that he had a class with Alex T this past semester. He was officially announced on the roster and Coach has mentioned him several times during the season.

Saw him practice as well he was just as much on the team as everyone else on the day to day just wasn’t eligible as well. Wonder how long it’ll take him to get ready to play when he gets back next week.

In a recent post game interview, Mike Davis mentioned that he expected Alex Tchikou to be back in Detroit on January 11th. Has anyone see Alex on campus this semester?

I didn't hear any mention of him during the radio broadcast last night. Hopefully he will be available and able to play soon. We need some size and rebounding up front.

Mike Davis has a habit of saying things that are not accurate. It is another reason why he needs to resign.

Mike Davis has a habit of saying things that are not accurate. It is another reason why he needs to resign. Well put Larry, I've been thinking alot about this lately. Each off season in the rare time we get comment or rumor from coaching staff, it is annually not accurate or doesn't come to fruition. We are always just a step away from the impactful Egyptian, the former SEC players, etc et al. Those never come true and yet each year we get more rumor about them. Heck, during the Egpytian guy stuff I sat at a dinner next to the AD who also told me about it and here we are years later and never an Egyptian Titan has been spotted at Calihan. So...we don't ever hear about the program and when we do things don't come to fruition. No wonder HSScout bailed on the program last year after all the lack of communication.

Our Egyptian ended up at Charlotte and now is the starting center at BYU.
