Boston College hires Earl Grant from College of Charleston as its next head coach. Link to ESPN article. Guess I'll have to adjust to more CSU style basketball. Or as Jay Bilas called Tre Gomillion on yesterday's selection show - "A linebacker in shorts." But is he the "Elizabeth Izzi Family Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Boston College?" Maybe there's still a chance! All these guys determined to be first instead of right.

Ferreira seems like a legit, "old-time" transfer. He was one of Gates's emergency recruits in the summer of 2019, and last year played in just 5 games, a total of under 30 minutes. He was clearly not going to get much PT this coming season. Let's assume Gates didn't "run him off." Some guys will stay--they're happy, they like their teammates, they like winning, even if they're on the bench most of the time. But it's also logical for a kid to want to go somewhere where he can play. Ferreira may have an added incentive: he is Portuguese, and may realistically figure that he can have a pro career in Portugal--but to do that he's got to be somewhere where he is actually seeing floor time here in college.

Makes sense that JUCO guys who only played two years of D1 ball might take advantage to stick around for an extra year. For CSU, that's a very good development, particularly with them losing Olegsby. Going to be interesting to see if someone tries to poach Gates away from the Vikings.

Looks like a good pickup. Double figure score. .497 from the floor.

Cleveland State with another good pick up as former Florida State Seminole Nate Jack commits to the Vikings. Jack came to FSU from the JUCO ranks, and was ranked one of the top JUCO players in the class of 2019. He appeared in a lot of games but could never crack the starting lineup on that heavily talented team. He showed some flashes, as in his 18 point game against NC State last season. He entered the portal and probably always knew he would end up playing for Gates, the guy who recruited him to FSU. I think he has the potential to be a handful in the HL. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4592191/nathanael-jack

Cleveland State is bringing back talent and adding talent. Looks like they will be good again.

Cleveland State has signed Coach Gates to an extension through the 2026-27 season. Reportedly north of $500K/yr. I hope CSU put in a good buyout clause for themselves.
