What to Watch:
The NCAA First Four gets underway today, with a double header starting at 3:40 PM on TruTV. However the best games of the night might be the among the NIT match ups.
7:00 PM Boston College at Providence ESPNU. A match up between a BC team that is trying to build their program back to Al Skinner levels and a Providence squad rightfully ticked off about not being invited to the Big Dance.
7:00 PM Cornell vs Ohio State ESPN2. Baller, the Buckeyes try to keep that momentum going.
11:00 PM UC Irvine vs Utah ESPN2. It's all about trying to get respect for the Anteaters of Irvine.

Scores for March 19, 2024. The postseason begins.
NCAA TOURNAMENT Colorado State 67, Virginia 42. Some people thought Virginia shouldn't have gotten a bid. Virginia scored 14 total points in the first half to support that opinion. Wagner 71, Howard 68. Howard's comeback came up short. Seth Towns had 16 points for the Bison almost eight years after he graduated high school.
NIT North Texas 82, LSU 77 Boston College 62, Providence 57. The Friars were still upset about not making the NCAA tournament. BC was focused on winning. Georgia 78, Xavier 76. The Musketeers finish two games under .500 on the year. Ohio State 88, Cornell 83 South Florida 83, UCF 77 Virginia Tech 74, Richmond 68. The A10 champ falls. Minnesota 73, Butler 72. That's 0-3 on the opening night of the NIT for the Big East. Iowa 91, Kansas State 82 Utah 84, UC Irvine 84. The Utes took the momentum with a big run to end the first half.
CIT (Lone Star State focus tonight.) Tarleton State 82, Texas Southern 71. Tarleton State gets win 24. Abilene Christian 73, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 63

Scores for March 20, 2024
NCAA First Four Colorado 60, Boise State 53. A couple of complaints I heard about the selection process was that Colorado didn't deserve to be there and Boise State was too good to be in a First Four game. Former Titan Mo Sylla, currently on the Boise State roster, did not see action. Grambling 88, Montana State 81 (OT) The Tigers get the win after coming back from a 14 point second half deficit. That's 21 wins on the season for Grambling.
NIT Seton Hall 75, St. Joseph's 72. Very entertaining game, although not really a thing of beauty. Indiana State 101, SMU 92. The Sycamores trailed by nine at the break, but put up 61 in the second half. Bradley 74, Loyola Chicago 62. The season closed on a down note for the Ramblers, but they exceeded expectations this year. UNLV 84, Princeton 77. I have the feeling that Tark and Pete Carrill watched this in the afterlife and had a bet on it. Wake Forest 87, Appalachian State 76. Remember Boobie Miller, the point guard who played well for Central as a freshman before missing most of his sophomore year with an injury? The scored 31 for Wake. Cincinnati 73, San Francisco 72 (OT). VCU 70, Villanova 61. The Commonwealth rises up!
College Insider Tournament (CIT) Fort Wayne 77, Bowling Green 75. First postseason win for the HL this year. Tarleton State 86, Abilene Christian 59. Only blowout of the day. Alabama A&M 81, Austin Peay 71. The Bulldogs came in at 11-22, but came away with the road win.

Scores for March 21, 2024
North Carolina 90, Wagner 62. 20 and 15 for Bacot. Arizona 85, Long Beach State 65. Dan Monson can get on with retirement after a solid career with a cherry on top. Iowa State 82, South Dakota State 65 Tennessee 83, St. Peter's 49. No magic run for SPU this time, but props to them for making the dance again. Creighton 77, Akron 60 Illinois 85, Morehead State 69 Oakland 80, Kentucky 76 Kansas 93, Samford 89. Samford was victimized by a terrible call down the stretch. Gonzaga 86, McNeese 65. Despite a sparkling win/loss record for McNeese this season, this result was expected. Duquesne 71, BYU 67 Oregon 87, South Carolina 73. Jermaine Cousinard goes for 40 for the Ducks. NC State 80, Texas Tech 67. The Wolfpack's special run continues. Dayton 63, Nevada 60. Good night for Catholic schools whose names start with D and who used to be in our conference. Dayton overcame a 17 point deficit with 7 minutes to go. Texas 56, Colorado State 44. Two days after the Rams held Virginia to 14 points in the first half, they scored only 11 points in the first half. Washington State 66, Drake 61. Drake had the lead but faded late. Michigan State 69, Mississippi State 51. The Spartans played on of their best games of the season at a good time.

The foul called on Samford with 14.7 seconds left was the worst. It was a clean block. It was called by an official with a partly obstructed view. The official with an unobstructed view did not call a foul. And it deprived Samford of a chance to win the game against Kansas.
It was as huge a mistake as Kentucky forgetting that Townsend only had 1 foul shot and the poor Kent State player who intentionally fouled the Akron player because he forgot the score.

That block was an amazing defensive play from the Samford player, actually one of the best blocks I've seen in a long time. If I was a Samford fan, I'd be mad about that forever.

Scores from March 22, 2024. Upsets and blowouts.
UConn 91, Stetson 51
Purdue 78, Grambling 50. The Tigers put up a tough fight for a half.
Houston 86, Longwood 46. The Cougars just bullied Longwood.
Marquette 87, Western Kentucky 69. It was a seven point lead for WKU at the half. The next time I looked at the score it was Al McGuire's guys by 20.
Baylor 92, Colgate 67. The Bears were up by 20 at the break and cruised.
Yale 78, Auburn 76. Go Ivies!
Duke 64, Vermont 47
Alabama 109, Charleston 96
San Diego State 69, UAB 65. The Aztecs held off a pesky UAB team.
Clemson 77, New Mexico 56. 3-23 from three point range for the Lobos.
James Madison 72, Wisconsin 61. Classic 5-12 upset. The Badgers had only 20 points in the first half. James Madison improves to a sparkling 32-3.
Colorado 102, Florida 100. Very entertaining game, but pretty much devoid of defense.
Northwestern 77, FAU 65 (OT). No magic for the Owls this season. The score was an ugly 20-19 at the end of the first half.
Utah State 88, TCU 72. For Utah State, not a single point was scored by a player that was on the roster last season. That's just an incredible job of roster construction.
Texas A&M 98, Nebraska 83. Nice season for the Huskers, but I think they will be one of the teams that suffers due to Big Ten expansion.
Grand Canyon 75, St. Mary's 66. The Gaels picked the wrong time to revert back to their early season lackluster play, but in reality, the 'Lopes just looked like the better, more athletic team. SMC looked two steps slower and six inches shorter all night. The game was played in Spokane, Washington, but the GCU fans travel, and it sounded and felt like a home game for them.

Scores for March 23, 2024. No more Michigan teams left in the tournament. ' NCAA TournamentNorth Carolina 85, Michigan State 69. The Spartans started off fast but North Carolina is just a better team this year. 18 and 7 for Armando Bacot. Tyson Walker scored 24 for the Green and White. Arizona 78, Dayton 68. The Flyers close the year at 25-8. Iowa State 67, Washington State 56 Tennessee 62, Texas 58. Rich Barnes's current team beats his old team. Ugly offensive game. Illinois 89, Duquesne 63. The Dambrot era comes to an end at Duquesne. Creighton 86, Oregon 73 (2OT). The Ducks blew this one. They were up four with a minute left in regulation and had the ball, but bungled their last three possessions. They folded in the second overtime. Gonzaga 89, Kansas 68. The Jayhawks led by one at the break, but the Bulldogs owned the second half. NC State 79, Oakland 73 (OT) NIT Seton Hall 72, North Texas 58. I love what Seton Hall is doing. Rather than decline the NIT, like some other teams, the Pirates have embraced the idea. They are playing the games at Walsh Gymnasium, their smaller, on-campus arena. Cincinnati 74, Bradley 57 Ohio State 81, Virginia Tech 73 CBIArkansas State 86, Bethune Cookman 85 Chicago State 77, UC San Diego 75. Chicago State wins a postseason game behind 30 points from Wesley Cardet Jr. UC San Diego was a 9.5 point favorite against the gritty team from Chicago. Seattle 79, Delaware State 66 CITNorfolk State 81, Alabama A&M 66
