Earlier in the season Maddox tweeted a remark (since deleted) that a specific past date was the worst day in his life. Someone reviewed his Twitter feed and it turns out it was the date he committed to Oakland. So he apparently wasn’t a happy camper. This transfer is a surprise to me, Maddox seemed to be developing into a pretty good player at OU. He will have plenty of suitors.

Maddox will hurt. I think he's been a bit of a disappointment, frankly, but that's because I had high expectations. If he takes a step forward next year he'll be very good.
The other three won't be missed. I was never high on Gettelfinger, who could become a decent player but was always likely to be overmatched as a freshman. Pittman's had two years and 53 games to show something--and he's shot 26% from the field, 22% from three, and has more turnovers than assists. Monroe also had more turnovers than assists and shot poorly this year. He wasn't a particularly in-demand recruit. My guess is that Kampe told these guys they were unlikely to see much time next year. And there have been rumors since early fall that Gettelfinger was unhappy.
In other words, these transfers clear roster space. Losing Maddox will hurt, as he was part of the returning core. But the big losses are the graduating seniors Hill-Mais and Brechting. I don't see these transfers as being signs of chaos or collapse--at least not yet. OU still has 2 solid starters back in Rashad Williams and Daniel Oladipo, and Kevin Kangu started a lot this year and should be a decent rotation player. Freshman Blake Lampman played well at times and they'll bring on 6-8 redshirt forward Jihad Yusuf. Kampe also has a couple of solid recruits already signed, guard Joey Hollifield and 6-9 forward Chris Conway. Conway is awfully skinny but potentially a very good player.
I don't know that Oakland will be great, but they'll be OK. Things aren't falling apart there.

Us titan fans are quick to accept OU's demise, Kampe probably has the coaching acumen and enough talent to still be us by 15 points two times next season. We are on shakey ground and living in a glass house ourselves.

Except for Maddox, it doesn't look like OU is losing anyone of on-court significance, but you're looking at a lot of work to rebuild that roster for 2020, when you probably would rather be working on 2021-22.
The Titans will be in a similar situation if it is true they are looking to add 5-6 (or more) new players to the roster.

Maddox was very athletic, their best on ball defender and the key to breaking a press. When he was not on the floor they had tons of problems with pressure. He will be missed. I would like to see us get him.

I've heard a rumor that the NCAA transfer portal may be closed due to the coronavirus. Too many players already in there.

Smart buy game for OU, as it is relatively close. Wonder what they’re getting paid.
