Can't say I saw EMU play this year, but Nobles was fairly inconsequential to their team. From merely looking at box scores, he's a 6'9 forward that weights 195 (that is slight to say the least for a big guy of that length, the glare at GlareTop Arena may knock him over)
His Soph and Jr seasons look comparable stat wise -- 21-22 mins per game, averaged 4.6 and then 4.7 pts per game 2.4 rebounds. He must be an emergency 'big man' esp in event Brock doesn't return.

He is an EXCELLENT defender who uses his length very well on that end of the floor. Hit 38-100 from three last year and doesn't need the ball to be effective. He won't be a star, but I expect he will be a solid contributor for the Grizzlies. I would have been very happy to see him end up with the Titans.

For GVSU!!! What's up with that? I'm completely baffled by that move. I would have bet Brock going high major before I would have bet on him going D2.

Last year, remember, he almost quit. I figured it made sense--he's older than his teammate, he's a veteran of the middle east wars, he can pay for college with the GI Bill, and he might have just figured, "hey, been there, done that D-I basketball thing; I'm not likely to be a pro, I'm going to worry about my studies and future." I mention this because I wonder if he isn't still looking to downgrade the time commitment. The thing is, I don't sense that there is a whole lot less work or travel in D-II ball.

I'm not above tooting my own horn, especially when I get it right against conventional wisdom. In my HL preview on Oakland I wrote:Lindy's projected Sowunmi as Second Team All-Conference. After playing Sowunmi in the exhibitions, Kampe has indeed decided to redshirt the 6-11 freshman. Probably a smart move by Kampe.

Lindy's actually predicted that he would be the conference Newcomer of the Year. Maybe next year.
