"Meager production, brings experience and some size." I don't want to be snarky, but gosh I can't help myself... It looks like those Baldwin attributes are those that Jack B proto-typically fills out on a roster so perhaps he won't be a Chippewa with JJJ afterall.

Kampe putting Jack on scholarship for one year just to troll us would be such a baller move.

CMU got a commitment from Harrison Henderson, a transfer from Southern. You might remember Henderson as a player who spent a season with Milwaukee after transferring from USC. He only put up 3 ppg for Milwaukee and then transferred to Southern. Decent stats there, averaging 9 points and 6 boards in 18 minutes per game. He's 6-11, 240. Worth a shot for the Chips, who are rebuilding that roster. Henderson was a big time recruit in the class of 22016, with multiple high major offers. CMU will be his fourth school. You never know how a career is going to go. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4066434/harrison-henderson

Former rumored Titan HC candidate and Kentucky assistant Tony Barbee is now rumored to be in contract talks with Central Michigan to become their new head coach replacing Dr. Tom Davis's son, Keno. Central travels to Kentucky on November 29. Barbee goes back to Lexington.

Coach Barbee continues to build his roster, this time getting a commitment from a kid from France, by way of Florida. Nicolas Pavrette, a class of 2021 center from Central Pointe Christian Academy, verbally committed to CMU. Reportedly had offers from North Alabama and Eastern Washington. Nice add this late in the offseason. verbalcommits.com/players/nicolas-pavrette

Central Michigan is picked 8th by Athlon and 10th by Lindy's in the MAC predictions. They have nine transfers with immediate eligibility, and Athlon thinks they have a shot at outperforming their prediction.
Look for Jermaine Jackson Jr. to put one last shot (or most likely, a LOT of shots) into chasing the league.
Dre Polk reportedly had a Titan offer for the class of 2020, but opinions were mixed on how badly we wanted him. As a freshman he averaged 8 and 5 in 18 minutes per game, making the All freshman team. They expect bigger things from him this year, as one of five guys on the roster who is listed as 6-10 or more.
The Chips have six players on the roster from the State of Michigan.

What can we say about the Chip at the halfway point? They are struggling as expected, and their new roster hasn't meshed well. Covid has trashed their schedule, putting their record at 2-12, 1-2. They smartly banked some money in what is pretty much a throwaway year, traveling to DePaul, Gonzaga, Missouri, Xavier, and Kentucky. Their wins are over Kent State and Eastern Illinois.
The bright spot on the roster has been junior guard Oscar Lopez, the transfer from DePaul, who is averaging 10 ppg on 44/38/79 shooting. He can be a building block going forward. Freshman Kevin Miller is averaging just under 10 per game; hopefully for Coach Barbee Miller will return next season, but that's always a question mark these days.
As discussed, JJ Jr. quit the team this week, but I'm sure the staff didn't beg him to stay. His absence frees up shots and minutes for players who want to be there.
I like Barbee as a coach. He's experienced and has had success. I expect him to do a good job in Mount Pleasant.

CMU has gone 2-1 since they JJJ decided to fully chase the league, with their loss being a four point setback to a good Akron team. They are now 3-3 in conference. I don't expect many wins for them the rest of the way (Melvin "Sugar" McLaughlin isn't walking through that door), but hopefully they are laying the groundwork for a better season in 22-23. They are getting good play from freshman guard Kevin Miller, who put up 21 points and 12 assists last night. Hopefully he comes back next season.

I think his opportunities were being limited before.

Freshman guard Kevin Miller had 18 points,10 assists, and 7 boards tonight as the Chips won their fourth game in the last six. They defeated Ball State in overtime on the road and improved to 5-4 in MAC play.
Good for Coach Barbee and the Chips.
