During tonight's ASU vs Arizona telecast, they showed a graphic saying that Arizona has eight players on their team born outside of the US, highest of any major conference team.

Andy Enfield received a contract extension through 2027-28. This is his ninth season at USC. In the previous eight, he's made the NCAA tourney 3 times, a first round exit, a second round exit, and last year's Elite Eight appearance. At 25-6, they will be back in the Big Dance this season.

After a totally unexpected run to the Elite Eight last year, Oregon State went 3-28 this season. You have to consider just how hard it is to win only three games total on the season if you are a high major conference team. You're going to almost certainly have a talent advantage over the mid majors you're playing in the non-conference, and you figure you'll catch at least a couple of your conference mates on off nights over the course of the season. The PAC 12 is probably the weakest of the power conferences this season, but the Beavers only managed one conference win. For comparison's sake, Nebraska and Minnesota finished last in the Big Ten standings at 4-16, but their total wins were at 10 and 13 respectively.
After last season's wild ride, Beaver Coach Wayne Tinkle got a contract extension, so he's probably safe for another year. The funny thing was, his seat was very hot last year up until that postseason run. Timing is everything.

Relatively forgiveable. Tulsa was 11-19, 4-14 in the AAC this season. A PAC 12 program in year 8 of the current coaching regime should not lose that game. Heck, I would be mad at the Titans if they lost to Tulsa this year. Here's an article from a couple of weeks ago about the OSU situation, and how it would cost the school $14 million to fire him. They signed him to a crazy extension after that Elite Eight trip. www.buildingthedam.com/2022/2/19/22942276/worst-oregon-state-basketball-season-ever-wayne-tinkle-on-the-hot-seat

Arizona State is going to feel the sting of that first round loss to Stanford for awhile. The Sun Devils took a 14 point lead with three minutes left in the game on a highlight reel dunk from Kimani Lawrence, but Stanford closed the game on a 16-1 run. It was an epic collapse.
ASU closed the season strong before that loss, winning seven of their last eight regular season games to finish 10-10 in conference play, 14-17 overall. But that's four losing seasons out of seven for Hurley at ASU.
Interesting note from the game: The winning basketball was scored by Stanford forward James Keefe, whose Dad Adam is the career leading rebounder and number 3 scorer in program history. Adam was quite a player at Stanford from 1988-92. They put the camera on him and I looked at him and thought before I knew who he was, "Who is that old looking guy?" He's younger than me. :-(

USC gave a big contract extension to Andy Enfield ten days ago. Yesterday, the 7 seed Trojans lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament to 10 seed Miami. USC was favored by 2.5, so not a big upset, but a disappointing loss nonetheless.

Arizona State lands Michigan transfer Frankie Collins, to go with the other transfers they got, including brothers Desmond Cambridge (ASU is his third team) and Devan Cambridge (ASU is his second team), and PF Warren Washington (ASU is his third team).

Amazing fact
Stanford landed Davidson transfer Michael Jones earlier today. He becomes Stanford’s first transfer since 2009 and 1st ever grad transfer.

Blue Ribbon picks the PAC 12 this way: 1. UCLA 2. Oregon 3. USC 4. Washington State 5. Oregon State 6. Arizona State 7. Arizona 8. Colorado 9. Utah 10. Stanford 11. Washington 12. California Can the Conference of Champions put together a solid regular season with some big non-conference wins? They failed to do that last season but overcame it with a great NCAA tournament showing. Well, to answer the question above, no, the PAC 12 could not put together a solid regular season with big non-confernece wins. And unlike 2021, they weren't able to put together an impressive run in the tourney. Final standings: Arizona UCLA USC Colorado Washingon State Oregon Washington Arizona State Stanford California Utah Oregon State Bobby Hurley at Arizona State and Wayne Tinkle at Oregon State face make or break years in 2022-23, most likely.

Oregon added five star recruit Mookie Cook to the class of 2023. It's actually his second commitment to Oregon, as he previously committed and de-committed. We will see if this one sticks.

PAC 12 Official Pre Season Poll.
1. UCLA 2. Arizona 3. Oregon 4. USC 5. Stanford 6. Colorado 7. Arizona State 8. Washington State 9. Washington 10. Utah 11. California 12. Oregon State
If the season goes this way, the coaches at Washington, Arizona State, and Oregon State will definitely be in danger come Spring 2023.
