With Coach's emphatic post game remarks that stated we will be getting 8 or 9 (and later repeating 8 a few more times) new players next year and implying a lot of players won't be welcomed back, I get the feeling I'll be pretty busy keeping and eye on recruiting.

That was an interesting meltdown. Coach Davis is supplying ample ammunition for schools to "negatively recruit" against UofD. Unless they have no other options, why play for a coach who openly berates you in a public setting when you make a basketball mistake? Why play for a coach who will cut you if you dont live up to expectations? Maybe coach Davis and his staff should do a better job of scouting and player evaluation. |

I'm not sure why he continues to talk about his guys as if he had no say in them coming to Detroit Mercy. Every time he goes off it's the same as saying that he's either a bad judge of talent or a bad motivator. It's strange. |

Coaches have lots of different styles and different kids react to different things. Not saying I agree totally with Coach's comments or approach to making them, but I doubt it's a recruiting negative. You always get the whole coach. Davis will be judged by the recruits he actually brings in. 2018 was a late start and a bad situation. 2019 was disappointing but I'm willing for now to give a benefit of a doubt to the effects of the APR ban. We need some results this year, though. |

In his postgame interview, Davis is saying that he will be open about who we recruit this Spring and will not keep stuff secret. Also, he said we will play an easier non-conference schedule next season.

Interesting on both fronts. 1) I didn’t think you could say much anything publicly about potential recruits until they were actually signed. 2) the difficult non conf schedule was part of the plan to get loads of extra $$ to invest into the program. Perhaps some items were handled this year and thus less need to get buried by big boys all non conf long Welcome to the off season! I hope and expect Scout to populate these pages with good intel and recruit ideas. Only 8 months til we tip again... |

Regarding point 1, I have to assume coach means that we will announce players once they sign & are formally admitted to the school. The last two seasons had nothing but rumors about who might be joining the team until the week school finally started and there were ultimately no big surprises. I hope coach hits the transfer portal hard. I worry that foreign players are likely to get cold feet or back out.

Pender HS is about 15 minutes outside of Burgaw, NC--that is to say, in the middle of nowhere. Carr is probably about as much an undiscovered sleeper as one can find these days, though per Verbal Commits he is now up to 6 offers, including ours. I don't know anything about the site Scout links to, PhenomHoopReport, but they just love him and write him up all the time. Meanwhile, yesterday he was named his HS conference's Player of the Year. Sounds like he would be a good signee, though we've already signed LeGreair at point, and we need bigs. |

This Thursday, the PSL Champs (Cass Tech) will play the Catholic League Champs (St Mary’s)
in the Operation Friendship Championship Game at 7pm at Calihan Hall.
Cass Tech, of course, is Titan commit Kyle LeGreair's team
