If Gage wants to come here, I recommend we take him. If he is healthy, he's the best point guard on the team not counting AD. My guess is that he will have better opportunities than us and will go elsewhere. I dont see Gage as being a hot commodity, he averaged 4.5 pts and 1.7 assist, he certainly isn't the next Rod Strickland or Kevin Edwards. I would rather gamble on a younger player, which could also backfire ala Braden Norris at OU. He was hurt this year. Missed a bunch of games and played in others while not 100%. In 2018-19, he was healthy and played in 33 games, averaging 29 minutes per game. Averaged 9 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds per game. Shot 77% from the line. He scored 14 in a win over Penn State. 17 in a close loss to Northwestern. He scored in double figures 16 times, with a high of 19 twice, against St. John's and South Florida. I've watched Gage for a few years now. He's an excellent teammate and leader. In my opinion, he could definitely help us. I don't know if there is a younger player out there who could do better who is still available and would come here.

McSam if you are endorsing Gage, then I hope we sign him.

I really think he could step right in and take a lot of pressure off AD and the other guards. I also think that our incoming guard from Cass Tech could benefit from his tutelage.

You could say that. 2 points and a TO at the half. OLSM 29 - Cass 16. I think he was 1-5 with a couple air balls in the first.
Plenty of time to turn it around.

OLSM with the overtime win. We left with 30 seconds to go and they were up 5 and shooting FTs. If Cass won, I'll never forgive myself for leaving.

One of my concerns is Davis recently said he was looking at bringing in 5 to 6 total players, and he stated they would be good players - starter quality. How he's going to do this with limited scholarships is his problem and not the reason for this post, but we can acknowledge that available scholarships are scarce. However, in the last week, we have made new offers to 3 players - Chase Thompson, JaJuan Carr and Jonathan Komagum. In all three cases, the players or their coaches reported these as offers, not walk-on or preferred walk on spots. I have no problem with the offers and I like that 2 are to HS players and JUCO's are often the way to go when recruiting big men. I also prefer not to judge their ability based on newsclippings or video highlights because that wouldn't be too smart since newspapers aren't going to rip high school players and the videos are of highlights only, so everyone should look good. But is anyone else concerned that 2 of these players have no other D1 offers and the 3rd has lower level/mid major offers only? I realize hidden gems are possible, but every recruit can't be a hidden gem. With limited scholarships and the promise of good starter quality recruits, this recent direction seems to contradict what we were told I think concern is the right word for it. You want to feel like you are recruiting players that other programs are after, too. It's not impossible to find hidden gems, but at this time in the 2020 recruiting cycle, I would hope we are offering players that are in demand. Definitely concerned. Coach Davis has been extremely critical of the 2019-2020 titans. He has repeatedly stated that he cannot understand why these players don't give "effort" when Detroit Mercy was their only D1 offer. It seems like we are headed down that road again. I have an idea for coach Davis, how about not giving these guys a scholarship, the reason they don't have D1 offers is probably because they don't have D1 talent. They are probably giving D2 effort because they have D2 talent. We don't have to use all available scholarships.

Chase has been playing at the World Prep Invitational in the past few days. He's been lighting it up with games of 28pts/11reb and 38pts

Especially before Georgia State or Duquesne adds him to their recruiting targets. They have a history of using UofD as their scouting service.
