I noticed the big man Randle from Douglass was offered by EMU today. I wish we'd give it a break with the questionably talented big men transfers and just give this kid the full court press and lock him up before it's too late. Randle will be announcing his commitment on May 13th. I sure hope it's with us. Not that he's a superstar or anything, but for me personally, I feel like it's a big decision This coaching staff doesnt recruit high school players taller than 6'0.

I would like to see us finish this class off with Rocket Watts and Chuks Isitua.

I see him as a Spider Johnson type player. But my sneaky suspicion (based on nothing but a gut feeling) is that EMU has made a lot of progress in a short period of time with him.

Doesn't it make you wonder how much ability is here or how much effort. Randle went away to a prep school but came home. He played on a class D team that had the States Mr. Basketball on it, a 6'7" guy and Randle who is listed at 6'10" yet they lost 4 games and had 2 really tight games against D teams in the tourney and 2 of their games during the season they really were spanked. We were the first to offer him but he must have thought he was better than us. So now 1 1/2 yrs. later he is still shopping around and we are hoping it's us. I think we have been the best offer from the get go and he is still looking for something better of which he hasn't done anything to attract anything more than some bottom feeders. I might be wrong on this but it takes a lot more than being 82" tall to make a player.

We are looking for a low post player and a big guard/wing with length. We were looking for these positional players regardless of what Fraser and Johnson decided. Especially at the low post, I don't think we want a developmental player this year. We already have a tall, thin skilled player in Koka.

We didn't make his final 4: Texas, Florida, BYU, and Penn State. He's leaning towards a straight decision next Thursday or so.

I'd still be pursuing Randle if I was this coaching staff. I know all the points that have been articulated against going after him, but when was the last time we got a Detroit big out of high school who had other mid major offers? I think Randle could eventually give us what Detroiter Spider Johnson is giving Cleveland State these days. 6 points, 5 rebounds, 1.3 blocks in 23 minutes per game. If we do have Koka and/or another big on the roster next season, Randle won't need to do anything but work on his game and get better and stronger, like Spider did his first year at CSU. It's more than worth the scholarship in my opinion. But like I said, my gut is telling me EMU is landing him.

There is a virtual Titan Roundball Luncheon scheduled for Tuesday, May 18, at noon. According to the invitation email, Coach Davis will provide an “update on how recruiting is going” with the proviso that relative to this area “we are limited on what we can say as a University.”

I hope for his sake that some guy 3" to 4" shorter than him and twice as athletic isn't eating out of his refrigerator the entire first half so that by the time he announces he still has some value.

I did not have any inside information but my gut was telling me Randle was Ypsilanti bound.
