I would think we would have a new coach by the end of the week - right? I mean how much longer could the AD possibly take? Speaking of the new Coach - at this point, we really don't have a clue as to which way they are going to go. An Assistant from another school; an up and coming low major Coach; a Detroit area returner; a former pro player; another alumni??? Lindsey Hunter kind of sticks out (just a hunch) as a real possiblility, but who knows... If the AD gig doesn't work out for Vowels, maybe he could find a 2nd career in the spy business because he's terrific at keeping secrets

If Vowels' decision to fire Bacari came from his normal post-season review of the program, then his decision to wait until March 26 needs to be explained. However, there is also the possibility that new information about a lot of things came to light between the end of his normal post-season review and March 26. The reason for making the decision on March 26 and not sooner should be communicated after the new coach is hired. I agree that the issue of the time lapse between season's end and March 26 is different than the time it is now taking to vet and hire a new coach. I think we will know this week.

Rumor is BA through JJsr under the bus on the way out the door and even though he was the front-runner, he was escorted out of Callahan only to be let back in a few days later. and after this vowels widened the search.

I can't say too much but Rick Pitino is talking to UD about the job. That's why this is taking so long. Pitino is interested but wants bonuses for tourney appearances. UD is asking Pitino and agent for contract that says can fire if bad news comes out about him. Not sure if Pitino wants UD or Siena more but he's talking to us.

This is a joke, right? [/quote] Until we see an Instagram photo of Pitino grinding at Siena, it's just as good a rumor as Andre LaFleur was on campus last Friday. In a text to the Louisville newspaper on Sunday, Pitino denied that he was interested in the Siena job.

I wonder why there hasn't been any mention of Patrick Beilein, who turned around D-II LeMoyne and, before that, D-II West Virginia Wesleyan. Maybe we could get a home game against UM? But he's young, he's learned from an excellent coach, he's done very well in two turnaround situations at D-II.

I don't normally agree with the "Coaching Changes" guy, but I think he hits the nail on the head with his recent tweet (It sums up my frustration with the situation) I have no idea who the Coaching Changes person is but I doubt he (or they) have ever had to fire/hire a coach or run an athletic program. I'm sure they don't have intimate knowledge of each of those situations, so while U-D's silent, lengthy search invites criticism, I'll gladly skip the pearls of wisdom from that website. Not that I blame you for posting their comments, Scout, as in this case they mirror the frustration many Titan fans are feeling. I'm just tired of guys like that casually calling for other people to be fired.

Time is moving by quickly. Recruits are signing, transfers are finding new spots, assistant coaches are taking new jobs. I don't gamble, but if I was a betting man, I would think we will have someone in place by Friday. You could get Colonel Sanders to give up his secret recipe before you could get Robert Vowels to provide information on the coaching search.

Discussions this afternoon/evening with Pitino went very well. This is a real possibility.

I agree McSam, Robert Vowels Jr., is essentially putting his next basketball coach behind the 8 ball for the next two seasons. 2018-2019 is already a wrap, especially if the new coach cant convince McFolley to stay. There is absolutely zero chance that the next coach will hire his dad, so Kam Chatman will probably try to graduate an play his 5th season somewhere else. I am hopeful that something is done by Wednesday. I agree Vowels can keep a secret with the best of them. If the KGB waterboarded him he wouldn't give up any secrets.

"So, are you saying that Vowels put Bacari behind the 8-ball for the next two seasons after he was hired on April 21, 2016? Or that Gaither put McCallum behind the 8-ball for the next two seasons after he was hired on April 16, 2008? I understand your concerns, but question the accuracy of such a general statement. I'm glad that there have been few, if any, leaks from the search process. Otherwise, the process would turn into the barbershop scene from Hoosiers. I hope the new coach turns out to be a very good hire.

Discussions this afternoon/evening with Pitino went very well. This is a real possibility. Calihan Mole I hear Jim Harrick is available, too. I wonder if any overture has been made to Scott Cross, inexplicably fired by UT-Arlington last month after going 72-33 the last 3 years. He took a nothing commuter school and turned it into a solid mid-major program. Still just 43 years old. Jamie Dixon snatched him up to be an assistant at TCU, but my guess is he'd be available.
