DePaul guard Devin Gage is leaving the program as a grad transfer. I would like to see U of D pursue Gage. He's an experienced point guard who had some success the Big East, especially in 2019-19, the last season he was healthy. He's a Chicago guy, so Coach Dildy is familiar with him. I think he probably would start at point guard next year if he is healthy, and would be a good influence on your younger players, including the guards joining the team next year. Keep an eye out. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4065774/devin-gageIt looks like Davis is taking your recruiting advice!

I am going to take this as a serious post, so I will answer it seriously. Outside of some unknown connection to this staff or the University, why would Romeo Weems consider coming to the Titans if he leaves DePaul? He was a top 100 recruit in the class of 2019 who just finished averaging 8 points and 5 boards while shooting 40% from three as a freshman in the Big East. He will have a lot better opportunities than Six Mile and Livernois. A healthy Gage is better than any guard on the Titans not named Davis. We would be fortunate to land him.

I'm all for it, Sam. Unless the staff knows that they have something special in Pink, I don't see a viable PG on the roster for next season. AD is the closest thing we have and he's a career 1:1 assist to turnover guy. I'd really like to see him spending his time coming off of screens and trying to get an open look.

Oh yeah. Romeo Weems is not coming to Detroit. He can transfer anywhere he'd like.

Not implying anything at all here, just noting the transfer of a player from Michigan:

Someone we were very interested in back in the day. An Illinois kid who transferred to West Bloomfield

Another local guy transferring Alderson has always been solid. Very underrated star on that Clarkston team.

31 players hit the transfer portal so far today. I'm a little surprised, after all of Coach's post game rants, that a mass number of our underperforming players haven't "hit the portal" yet

Yeah, I thought we’d have at least 3 or 4 in the portal by now to be honest. When the coach publicly says “I gotta get better guys” numerous times throughout the season you’d think more than one would be in the portal by the final day of the season. Unless those guys are pissed at Davis and are playing games with him.

You can’t judge player/coach in that way. It’s a very deep and often personal relationship. Everybody hated hard-ass Jim Harding, but there have also been coaches like Bob Knight and Woody Hayes who inspired intense loyalty.

Not implying anything at all here, just noting the transfer of a player from Michigan: I don't think Boonyasith fills a need for us, but he wasn't a bad player at American. He was on the Patriot League "All-Rookie" team last year as a freshman, and this year averaged just under 8 point per game, shooting 37% from three, while starting in the backcourt. He was injured in early February and missed the last several games.

JJ Caldwell is a grad transfer from New Mexico. I've known about him for awhile, because he was someone Tubby Smith was recruiting when he was at Texas Tech. The good: He played 31 minutes per game, averaging 6 assists per game, shot 75% from the line, and a very solid 47% from the floor. He's a pass first kind of guard who sets up his teammates well, which is what we need. He is a Texas kid, who probably is known by and knows the Titan staff, and maybe some of the current players. He was ranked a top 100 player in high school. The bad: This will be his second transfer. He got into some trouble in both his previous stops, and was suspended last year, playing in only 13 games. Basketball-wise, he seems like he fills a need for the Titans, a ball handling passer who can set up AD and others for shots, while taking some pressure off of AD. Not sure why he got suspended previously, but Coach Davis has done well with players who were in trouble elsewhere before. Just something to think about. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4066206/jj-caldwellwww.espn.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/199175/jj-caldwell
