No, he hasn't worn a boot last 2 games. So it's a viable question: is there a chance he'll see action again this season if we keep winning?

I would think his game is way behind and working a new piece in at this point is not a good idea and would not only be risky for the player but for the team also.

Coach says Antoine will definitely be back next year, needs to get stronger.
Phillips out for season, ankle injury.
Akec still has some pain from the injury, doesn’t appear he’ll be ready to play this week
Talked about Willy in the past tense, assume he won’t return.
Recruit Sonny Johnson still out. He’ll be okay for next season, they expect him on campus to workout this summer.
Said a big man post player would be the recruiting priority.

Jeremy Shaw received limited playing time, this was especially the case in the last several games of the season. Was this situation due to an injury or his difficulty in transiting from JC to D1? He certainly appears to have a solid skill set and is very athletic.

Our friend Kirky wrote an article on his HoriZone beat, this is what he said about Koka: “For Buay Koka, a rumor has popped up on the Titan message boards, and after talking to my sources, he is most likely not returning.” Link to the entire end-of-season report for Detroit Mercy: horizoneroundtable.com/2022/03/08/titans-end-of-season-report/

I would like Koka to stay but it doesn't surprise in his decision. If he does leave I wish him the best.

This comment from the article (i.e. assumes that Antoine returns) points to the fact that we have the foundation of a solid roster for the 2022-23 season. 'The youngest Davis will have most of his supporting cast back as DJ Harvey, Madut Akec, Noah Waterman, Kevin McAdoo, and Kyle Legreair are all set to return. Jordan Phillips missed this entire season with eligibility and an ankle issue. He is scheduled to return. The coaching staff was expecting him to start when he became eligible'.

For us to step up and improve, we need to add 2-3 tough guys to our playing rotation. The likely departures of Koka and Willy give us this opportunity. Madut and Noah are not tough guys. They are skilled players who get knocked off the ball by less skilled but stronger players. Phillips at full strength could be one of those tough guys. Shaw could develop into a tough guy over the summer if he decides to hit the weight room and learn the defense and offense. But we cannot assume that he will achieve these goals by next year. DJ needs to get in better shape. Madut and Noah need to improve their strength and conditioning. So does Antoine if he returns. But we need a couple of strong guys under the boards who don't lose the ball when encountering physical contact. If we add 2 guys like that to the roster table above, we will get better results next season.

I fear even with this decent group of players there is a ceiling on the roster as currently constructed. The flaws are laid bare, and for some reason Coach Davis hasn't been able to get really get a full complement of roster rounded out and clicking on all cylinders together in his 4 years here. I was disappointed to see Johnson and Noah not take a step forward this season. Perhaps they are who they are, and again, part of the ceiling on what this roster can do.
Not to look too far ahead, but it is interesting to consider that after this upcoming season we will lose about everyone from the roster to graduation/finally exhausting eligibility/etc. A major reload will be needed for 23-24, but alas that is for another day.

It’s hard to tell on Waterman he was injured or coming off of injury the entire season. He is not a 4 or 5 but a large skilled 3 who is below average at taking someone off the dribble. I think he will continue to get hurt if forced to play inside on an undersized team. He must stay on his feet spends way too much time on the seat of his pants.

Hopefully, one of those players is Jordan Phillips. Although eligibility and injury severely limited his availability, the coach staff spoke highly of him on multiple occasions.

Just for comparison sake - I have us at 6 open/ 7 filled with the incoming transfer of Stone. (Stone, S Johnson, Davis, Akec, LeGreair, McAdoo, Phillips). Obviously, we're the one team that has a lot of work left to do

Scout - thanks for this update. As you half jokingly noted in another thread we have a tendency to annually have a few guys not eligible until the end of December. This usually means that we start the season 4-10'ish and maybe even drop a HL game or two before we have a full roster. At which point it takes a few games to get acclimated and guys playing their roles. We go on a win streak to 'climb up' to 5th or 6th in the HL, we get some optimism that maybe the team is ready to go on a HL tourney run, and then splat with an early tourney exit. The formula and playbook is there and we are already starting to follow it for the 22-23 season.

Can anyone confirm that Phillips and Koka are returning for the 2022-23 season?
