Anyone starting to feel concerned about no roster yet? School has been in session for almost a week, so the players should be on campus, taking classes and working out, right? The schedule, according to insiders, is completed (and I thought the staff wanted to complete it prior to releasing the roster). And I know - we know the majority of the players, so who cares. But the remaining 3? unknown players could mean the difference between an average or a championship (on paper anyways) season. As fans, we've been extremely patient, but it's going to be September... We hired a coach who has his own way of doing things. That includes how and when he releases information about the roster, schedule, and changes on his staff. I don't know why he chooses to release this information later compared to most schools. But this is part of how he runs his programs. I am learning to accept it - trusting in his ability to make us a perennial contender in the HL and beyond.

At this point, not knowing the identity of the Mystery Big Man and the anticipation surrounding him is just too exciting. I’m dreading the actual unveiling because I’m afraid he won’t live up to the hype. Sure, having a player that will change the landscape of the Horizon League will be awesome, but I’ll really miss scout and ptc posting profiles and videos of players from foreign countries.

I've got a hot lead on an 11 year old prodigy in Burkina Faso that I am saving for next summer when the recruiting information dries up. He could change the entire HL in 2027.

Perhaps Coach Davis is waiting for the two new guys before he has the roster photograph taken.

Commish, it looks like you've made a change or two on the chart for 2019-20 based on a few recent comments. On media day, Coach basically said Rose was on scholarship (he was previously thought to be a walk on) and yesterday, on the other board, uofdfan stated that AD is on scholarship this year (was previously non-scholarship). I also remember it being stated (not sure if it was Coach or a poster) that 2 scholarships were being left open in anticipation of 2 players/big men joining the program in December. To make the numbers work out, I'm thinking Curry's basketball scholarship may have been given to someone else with him now receiving some other aid to complete his education.
Am I correct in what I'm saying or does anyone have some additional or more correct info?
Taking it a step further, the 2 scholarships opening up after the season (Miller and Maxwell) have been given to Liedel and Legreair, so, if both big men arrive as promised, and every one else returns, zero scholarships are remaining for next year (of course AD could easily go non scholarship again, opening one up)

BTW, if we're right, and if we sign the two guards, Liedel and LeGreair, in the early signing period that begins Wednesday, I consider that an encouraging indicator that the bigs are coming. Of course, if the bigs don't come, those scholarships could be used for bigs--but I still think on what is already a guard heavy team that loses it's main big man (Miller), you might be hesitant to sign two more guards in the early period if you didn't feel you had some front line coverage. I guess we'll see.

As an employee doesn’t Coach’s son get to attend for free?
If we had an open scholarship, he could assign it to Antoine. Why? Because the free tuition benefit is a taxable benefit and thus by going on scholarship it saves Coach Davis a couple grand in taxes for receiving the taxable benefit of free tuition.

Also, an athletic scholarship covers room and board, not so with the employee offspring benefit.

Any new signings today since it was signing day? Saw UM signed four or five star prospect.

I've maintained a projected roster table for several years. Here I've updated it, putting it in a format that's easier for me to maintain and update. Academic classes are color-coded. The thread for prior years is here: udtitanbasketball.freeforums.net/post/922/thread. Walk-ons are marked with an * and are, with exceptions (Antoine Davis) listed only for the current and past years. 2019-2020 | 2020-2021 | 2021-2022 | 2022-2023 | 2023-2024 | 2024-2025 | BJ Maxwell, 6-4 G Justin Miller, 6-6 F
Dwayne Rose, 6-4 G Brad Calipari, 6-0 G Jordan Gorman, 5-10 G
Alonde LeGrand, 6-7 F Antoine Davis, 6-1 G Marquis Moore, 6-6 G/F Willie Isiani, 6-8 F Chris Brandon, 6-7 F Boe Nguidjol, 6-8 F
Sam Hofman, 6-5 F Jamail Pink, 6-1 G

*Walk-ons A school is allowed 13 scholarships. For clarification, are we in agreement that all 13 players currently on the roster are on scholarship (with Gorman and Calipari given scholarships for 2019-2020 due to the fact that we had 2 open ones)? Also, I'm assuming both Calipari and Gorman, if they return for 2020-2021, will go back to being walk-ons, giving us 2 total open scholarships left to give for 2020-21 (3 if AD goes back to being a walk on, like he was his Freshman year)?

Correct, however, coach Davis said that he was bringing in 8 new players, and it might cause us to go on probation.

George Noory said on his radio show that we have at least one Egyptian BIG coming this fall. Stay tuned!
