I think Jay Smith is still the head coach at K'Zoo. Hope it works out well for Ollie.

Dan Hasty tweets “Great moment after the @detroittitans win over the @mkepanthers, as Head Coach Mike Davis announced to his @detroitmbb team that Junior Guard Jordan Gorman (@jjgorm1_), who joined the team last season as a preferred walk-on, has earned a scholarship.“

Good for Gorman! With my travel schedule and living in Indiana, I haven’t seen a game all year in person other than ND. I’m looking forward to next Saturday.

It's a great story, but if it's for more than just this season (plus with a possible waiver for Maxwell), we could be in a bind for scholarships, which could mean no needed big men for next year. The promises that "that things look good for the April Signing Period" may be the same type of promises that we heard about the 2 MBM's - empty ones....
Things can obviously change, and none of the regular fans, like myself, really knows exactly who is on scholarship, but taking an educated guess:
If Maxwell gets a waiver, and giving Gorman a scholarship, plus 2 signings for 20/21 (I'll assume Calipari is a walk on), that leaves us with 13 scholarship players/zero left to give
BJ Maxwell, 6-4 G Dwayne Rose, 6-4 G *Brad Calipari, 6-0 G Jordan Gorman, 5-10 G
Alonde LeGrand, 6-6 G Antoine Davis, 6-1 G Marquis Moore, 6-6 G/F Willie Isiani, 6-8 F Chris Brandon, 6-7 F Boe Nguidjol, 6-8 F
Jamail Pink, 6-1 G Sam Hofman, 6-5 F
Kyle LeGreair, 6-0 PG, Joe Liedel, 5-11 SG

If Gorman is getting a scholly this term because we held one open for the MBM who never showed, or in hopes of a mid-year transfer, cool. But he's not the caliber of player we generally want to give scholarships to and we need size. I expect one or two more may open up. I don't know that Maxwell gets a waiver, assuming he wants one. The NCAA usually isn't sympathetic if you already took a non-injury redshirt year, which Maxwell did. They'll usually give you that 6th year of eligibility only if you've lost 2 seasons to injury. It wouldn't surprise me if someone transfers, though I'm not sure who the obvious candidate would be.

Just a guess, but Gorman’s scholarship may have come with the understanding that it's just for this season. No downside if we have one unused this year. And with two guards already signed, perhaps seeking a medical exemption for Maxwell is not in the cards.

(The two bets walk-ons in the country? Certainly the best and the most recognized!)

Do we have enough open scholies for the Egyptian twin towers?

According to verbal commits, this is the case (of course, I have a feeling verbal commits gets its info from this Board)
