Let’s not kid ourselves. If Detroit Mercy was a 16 seed and became the ultimate Cinderella and won a national championship by picking off all the blue bloods one by one, no one would be buying t shirts because Detroit Mercy and our shield logo will never be cool. Hell, half the guys on this board won’t buy UDM shirts and instead buy UD shirts from online vendors that probably don’t give the school a dime.
Change the name!

Worse, we probably wouldn't have any UD (or even Detroit Mercy) merchandise in stock. The web page would crash. People calling about season tickets for the next year would be put on hold while the person answering would try to find out the price and learn if there were different rates for seniors. And asked about the early impact on enrollment, the University would issue a "no comment" statement.

The Titans are 5-1 all time against St. Peter’s. Titans Coach Harding went 1-1 against the Peacocks. During my time at U-D, Vitale went 3-0 against SPU and Smoky Gaines picked up a win the last time we played them.

St. Peters was a good story for 2022. Will be sad to see it come to an end by 25 tomorrow. 😉 True, but people will remember St. Peter's for years and years and will have forgotten about who beat them in less than a week. I thought Purdue would school them, I've never been so happy to be wrong. Fear the Peacock!

Other than gamblers and Purdue grads (and even including many of them), I'm probably the only person in the country who was rooting for Purdue last night.

The whole nation is crazy about the ‘cocks.
The have EIGHT PLAYERS!!! who average 4.8 ppg or more and their leading scorer only averages 11.5 ppg. They have three 6’7” forwards but two of them (the Drame Twins) have long wing span and play much more physical and bigger than their size. Twins!!! That’s like having one guy that can give up 10 fouls!! Have we ever had twins?!

I don’t recall us ever having twins, but I think we’ve had 57 head/assistant coach and son combos.

My St Peter’s story is a game that I attended in 73-74. It was Vitales first season and we played the Peacocks in the Jersey City armory. We won 95-82, led by Owen Wells with 33 points and 10 rebounds. That year, the Titans went 17-9 with Wells averaging 20ppg. Vitale brought in Walter Smith, Dennis Boyd and Wilbur Ross from NYC Metro and then followed up with John Long and Terry Tyler the next.
