Official A10 poll for 2022-23.
1. Dayton 2. Saint Louis 3. VCU 4. Loyola Chicago 5. George Mason 6. Davidson 7. Richmond 8. UMass 9. Rhode Island 10. St. Bonaventure 11. Fordham 12. GW 13. St. Joe's 14. La Salle 15. Duquesne
First team all confernece:
Yuri Collins, Saint Louis Foster Loyer, Davidson Ace Baldwin, VCU Tyler Burton, Richmond Josh Oduro, George Mason DaRon Holmes II, Dayton
(I usually don't acknowledge all conference teams that pick more than five players, but the A10 says that a tie in the voting forced them to have six.)

I saw Loyola is having a tough time in the A-10. They lost to St. Joseph’s today by 31 today, falling to 6-11 on the season. I’m wondering if that nice run they had for a few years is over.

The run was over as soon as they joined the A10.

The run was over as soon as they joined the A10. Loyola was destined for a rough year--they graduated (not lost to transfer or even as grad transfers, but actually out of eligibility) 5 of their top 7 in minutes played and virtually every single stat category, including their leading scorer and top 4 rebounders. They've not been particularly hit hard by injuries, but nor have they been lucky--several players have missed a game or two and played another 1-2 games at less than full strength. And they did beat Clemson by 18 on a neutral court. The A10 is tougher than the MVC and I don't expect them to win it 4 times in 5 years as they've just done in the MVC, but I think long term they'll be competitive.

At the midseason point, the A10 is in a less than optimal position for post season play. There were some bad losses in the non-con, and no real needle moving wins for the league. There is danger of a "one NCAA bid" season for the A10.
On the plus side, Fordham is 16-4, matching their win total for all of last season. Can they win the tourney to get their first NCAA bid since 1992? Probably not, but their 12-1 start to the season (benefiting from a home heavy schedule and mid major opponents) has given their fans hope. VCU is 16-5, helped by Michigan transfers Brandon Johns and Zeb Jackson, but they probably need to run the table and lose in the league tourney title game to get consideration for an at large bid. Duquesne, picked to finish last in the league, is doing better than expected at 4-4, 14-7. Dayton challenged themselves with a very tough non-conference schedule, but lost to Virginia Tech, BYU, UNLV, Wisconsin, and NC State. Loyola was picked sixth in the official preseason poll, but has fallen fast, currently in last place at 1-7, 7-13. However, they have what is probably the best win in the A10, a 76-58 win over Clemson.
VCU, St. Louis, George Washington, Dayton, and Fordham are separated at the top of the standings by a total of 2.5 games. The rest of the season should be entertaining.

Fordham notched their 20th win of the season today with a victory over Davidson. The Rams are 20-5, tied for third in the A10. This is the first 20 win Fordham season since 1990-91. This is their first 20 win season as a member of the A10. They've even got a fun nickname for their style of play: "Urgonomics", after their first year head coach Keith Urgo.
Things started changing last season for Fordham, under first year head coach Kyle Neptune. The team finished 16-16, their first non-losing season in a while. Urgo was associate head coach on that team, and when Neptune took the Nova job this past Spring, Urgo moved up to the big chair.
Darius Quisenberry, who was a good player for YSU for three years, is enjoying these past two years as a Fordham Ram.

Richmond coach Chris Mooney will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery next week for an aneurysm in his ascending aorta. Often these things are discovered on the autopsy table so he's fortunate.

Player of the Year: Ace Baldwin, VCU
Their all conference first team listed six players, so I am ignoring it.

Official A10 poll for 2022-23. 1. Dayton 2. Saint Louis 3. VCU 4. Loyola Chicago 5. George Mason 6. Davidson 7. Richmond 8. UMass 9. Rhode Island 10. St. Bonaventure 11. Fordham 12. GW 13. Final Atlantic Ten standings for 2022-23. 1. VCU 15-3, 27-8 2. Fordham 12-6,25-8 3. Dayton 12-6, 22-12 4. St. Louis 12-6, 21-12 5. George Mason 11-7, 20-13 6. Duquesne 10-8, 20-13 7. George Washington 8. Davidson 9. St. Joseph's 10. St. Bonaventure 11. Richmond 12. LaSalle 13. UMass 14. Rhode Island 15. Loyola-Chicago It was a down year for the A-10. A bunch of non-conference losses and a lack of big non-conference wins overall cost the league, and only VCU made the Big Dance. No one accepted an invitation to the NIT either, which kind of surprised me. Fordham had their first 20 win season since 1990-91, finishing a shiny 25-8. They played a home heavy, rather soft schedule, but their fans sure had fun. On the other end of the spectrum was Loyola-Chicago, surprising the observers by finishing in last place. The Ramblers are a program stepping up in class in the A10, so it's hard to predict what the future holds. I hope the fans show head coach Drew Valentine the same patience they showed Porter Moser.

Duquesne wins the 2024 A10 tournament with a victory over VCU and gets an NCAA bid for the first time since 1977.
