Fordham Final Atlantic Ten 2020-21 standings St. Bonaventure 11-4, 16-5 VCU 10-4, 19-7 Davidson 7-4, 13-9 St. Louis 6-4, 14-7 UMass 6-4, 8-7 George Mason 8-6, 13-9 Dayton Flyers 9-7, 14-10 Richmond 6-5, 14-9 Duquesne 7-7, 9-9 Rhode Island 7-10, 10-15 George Washington 3-5, 5-12 LaSalle 6-11, 9-17 Saint Joseph's 3-9, 5-15 Fordham 2-11, 2-12 50/50 year for the A10. Put two teams in the NCAA and four teams in the NIT. Unfortunately, five of those teams lost in their first postseason game, with Richmond going 1-1 in the NIT. Covid-19 hit in a scattered manner, as seen in the fact that UMass played 15 games all season while VCU played 26. UMass is still trying to convince themselves that they did the right thing firing Coach Kellog a few years back. They didn't.

George Mason with great pick up, as four star class of 2022 shooting guard/small forward Justyn Fernandez commits. Fernandez is ranked a four star recruit by ESPN (#74 in the nation), Rivals (#114), and 24/7 (107). He had legit high major offers, including recent ones from this summer. Not sure what drew him to GMU, but it could be great for the program. www.espn.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/247936/justyn-fernandez

VCU is having bad luck. Per Jon Rothstein's twitter account: "VCU's Jarren McAllister has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the 21-22 season, per release. Rams just lost Jamir Watkins for the year with the same injury and Ace Baldwin is out until January or so with an achilles injury. Snake bitten."

Per Jon Rothstein, Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll, per release:

The Bonnies are getting some mention in some of the Top 25 preseason polls.
The A10 also released their preseason all conference team, but I am ignoring it because it lists SIX players.

Rough stretch for the A10 on Friday and Saturday. Some scores:
Utah State 85, Richmond 74 Manhattan 66, Fordham 60 Yale 91, UMass 71 UMass Lowell 59, Dayton 58 Wagner 58, VCU 44 Hofstra 73, Duquesne 63 San Francisco 65, Davidson 60 UC San Diego 75, George Washington 55
The rest of the teams beat up on Mid Majors. Fortunately for the conference, #23 St. Bonaventure made a wild comeback to beat Canisius after trailing by double digits.

As has been stated here, Dayton doesn't like being called a mid major, and yesterday's game is an example of why. The hosted an ACC team in front of a sold out crowd of over 13 thousand, won the game, improved to 7-4 (after a slow start they've won 6 of 7), and added another high major scalp to the ones they took from Miami and Kansas. Dayton is for real. They are one of the teams I look at with envy and say, "what if?".
I wonder if they ever considered changing their name to the University of Dayton Marianist. 🤔
