I miss him, he should have had a lifetime job here at the UDM That is what you need if you want to have a good program. Loyola was smart enough to stick with Moser even though he couldn’t win anything in the Horizon and they managed to ride him to greener pastures. Longevity helps a program except for Slocum. Davis already has some nice pieces for next year to build on let’s not be foolish and wish that away for less. The voices on here that wanted a change from McCallum and were all excited about BA have really short memories and are starting to saber rattle again. Let’s ride this one out and quit changing lanes. We are going to cause another accident and right now we have decision makers in place who show to be really adept at making bad decisions.

Coach mac Is a great guy, unfortunately, a lot of his top recruits did not work out. His in-game adjustments were not great. He got us to two postseasons and he will be remembered fondly for that.. BA looked like a homerun hire, unfortunately, that was over before he could get going. Everyone but Matt Johnson can return next year for Davis. The jury on MD is still out until at least the end of this season.

I’m not sure how many of us really qualify to be on a jury judging MD we are not his peers. We might think we are but we aren’t. Not everyone thought BA was a home run hire. He was a nice funny guy who was more of a politician than a coach now evidenced by his being out of coaching and more into politics where I think he will do well. We all get frustrated because we want the best for the program but constant change is not the answer. If Ray stayed Corey Allen would still be here along with a lot of talent. Ray had a good eye for talent and how do you say no to a guy like Ray Mac knocking on your door? Davis is also a very likable guy who represents us well. I think Mike Davis is the right guy to get this back on track. I think he and a lot of us under estimated the condition of our program. This might have been the season. Who could foresee what has happened to this team. We needed an inside presence and we had three options all of which to this point have not worked out. We have a big who we can’t get eligible, one with an injury and one who is not who he appeared to be. This causes us to adjust and move Noah inside and we end up losing him for 6+ games. Now we have lost our # 2 scoring option and very important asset. We all thought Harvey would be a lot more dominant than he has been so far and he still might be but the shortage of. Bench might have forced him to play injured which now is at a point where he can’t contribute. Who saw the issue with Phillips coming? Not any of us and Davis didn’t either, he was probably being told our fantastic underpaid Athletic support staff would get it done. This season to this point has been a aberration and I doubt anyone saw it coming. We all get frustrated and want the best for the program and it’s easy to get upset about what we have witnessed to this point. I think we had the right guy with Coach Ray and I think we are fortunate to have the right guy again. Let’s not make the same mistake twice.

Let's see how things look after we sweep a pair this weekend. I hope you are right. Right now we do not even know who is playing.

Definitely, Coach McCallum had an eye for talent. During his tenure, the Titans were the first offer for a lot of players who turned out to be really good. I remember he offered the kid from Westland, Mike Edwards, after Mike averaged five points per game his junior year in high school. Of course, Edwards had a really good senior season and played four years for the University of Georgia. His Bulldog teammate, Yante Maten, was also an early Titan target.

In a cool father/son moment, Young Ray breaks down some film of his Dad playing in high school, with Dad recreating some of his moves present day. 🙂
