If you visit the LIU basketball Instagram account, they posted a few pics from a practice 4 days ago. Hard to tell, as a lot of the pics are from a distance, but I do think you can see Ballantyne in one of the pictures. I’m pretty sure it’s him, but I wouldn’t bet on it. I can’t make out JJJ, but again, it’s only a few pics and they were meant to show off their new practice uniforms, not show everyone’s face.

Good eye Mole - Jack B is distinct and noticeable with his height plus red hair. You are right, I can't quite make out JJJ anywhere but he could be down in the middle of the huddle -- because where there is Jack B there is JJJ.

They just posted another pic about 34 minutes ago 1:30pm 9/24. There are clearly 13 players (more than their current roster), and there is clearly a tall red head.

I've always had a soft spot for Long Island, from reading former coach Clair Bee's "Chip Hilton" books as a kid. And I always thought the "Blackbirds" nickname was good--unique (I understand why they changed it in this day of sensitivity to anything that might be deemed by some ignorant boob to have its roots in racism). Still, I can't imagine that this is what JB and JJJ thought was going to happen when they decided not to stay around under Coach Davis. Davis has a long history of working successfully with diminutive point guards. I suspect he could have done a lot of good with JJJ.
Added thought: That's one somber looking group of guys. They look like they expect to lose 20 games. (In fact, LIU has done pretty well recently).

Versus Delaware St. tonight, Jackson Jr. took one shot and had zero points, JB didn’t even get in the game.

It's just been a real strange trip for JB and JJJ. I think both would have been well served staying in Detroit. JJJ would have definitely had to take a back seat to AD, but if he focused on being a distributor and/or a scorer off the bench, I think there would have been minutes and opportunities here. But he wouldn't have the freedom that he had under BA and his dad, so there would have to be an adjustment. The young man is talented; the tools are there. Not sure what the issue is with JB. He's listed as 6-9, 240, and you would think that a kid that size would be getting time in a program like LIU. Then again, JB was listed with the same dimensions at U of D, and anyone could see he certainly appeared heavier than that. I really think a year away from any basketball program hurt them. Seems like they would have been better off at Schoolcraft, Mott, St. Clair County CC, etc., rather than doing whatever they were doing, wherever they were doing it.

Not sure what Jackson Jr. did last season, but I know Ballantyne spent last season in the state of Ohio being a Lonzo Ball groupie. It made absolutely zero sense.
