First day of classes at LIU Brooklyn (which both players list on their Twitter home pages) is September 4th. Link

Never fear - I discussed this with a fan of LIU on line. He had received direct confirmation from Kellogg (the head coach) that both players are enrolled and immediately eligible to play. EDIT: my discussion took place in mid/late July

Jack's doesn't list LIU anymore -- twitter.com/jackkballantyne And he did have it on there for the past couple months. Also looks to have taken down a ton of tweets since he has now just 1 since May. I could've swore I saw tweets he had showing him at LIU and working out with other guys. As of 8 hours ago, Jack was still in Michigan per his latest instagram post. JJJ still has LIU listed on twitter and instagram. Having said that, he also posted a picture in December with his mom saying he just bought her a BMW they are standing in front of with #CTL on the post (Chase the League, the fledgling and pretty generic hoodie and tee shirt company that he and JJ Sr started). At some point he can't collect money off his image and this company and still be NCAA eligible? Or the BMW thing is actually not legit and based off of JJ Sr money. I don't know. I say this everytime on this topic but...What an all around mess. The largest share of blame goes to JJ Sr and whatever counseling his given these kids the past 6+ years. A solid game plan for kids cant be...a year or two at Mt Clemens, then Dakota, then UDM, then Spire, then LIU-Brooklyn, then whatever is next.

Hopefully the fact that they were enrolled at LIU (per HSScout) will be enough to move them from our demerit column with the NCAA.

Yeah, that raises a red flag or two. Especially in the case of Ballantyne; he tweeted his commitment to LIU over a year ago and the head coach posted a "welcome to LIU" message to JB on Twitter last Fall. What is going on? Like you said, that's obviously not their final roster (only nine players listed), but it seems like most of the issues would have been worked out by now.

A solid game plan for kids cant be...a year or two at Mt Clemens, then Dakota, then UDM, then Spire, then LIU-Brooklyn, then whatever is next. In the words of Sheriff Ed Tom in No Country For Old Men: "If it ain't a mess, it'll do until the mess gets here." On the surface, it appears that if there ever was a plan, it has gone way off course. I can understand JJJ transferring from U-D; his father wasn't on the staff anymore, he would playing for a new head coach, and he was definitely not going to be the main guy with Antoine Davis arriving. And being the "main guy" seemed to be of the utmost importance to both Senior and Junior. Still, it makes no sense that he didn't enroll anywhere last season (even going the JUCO route would have made more sense), and he really should be on someone's campus right now getting ready for the season and school year. In fact, it seems as if he would already be on campus taking summer courses somewhere. I still think Ballantyne should have stayed with the Titans. He would have been playing under a respected and accomplished coach in Mike Davis. A little work in the conditioning department and following the tutelage of the experienced coaching staff would have probably resulted in a better sophomore year with a lot of available playing time in front of his family and friends. Wherever he went, though, he should have been enrolled somewhere last year. Maybe things are better than they appear on the surface and both JJJ and JB will be playing well for LIU and doing good work in the classroom. For now, however, it looks like an opportunity is close to being wasted.

I think I figured it out - Ballantyne is actually our MBM (wouldn't that be a disappointing surprise - but at least he'd be enrolled in school which should help our ineligibility issues)

Checking the roster against last years it appears the only players listed were returning players.

I guess we will find out if this player exhist later or sooner. Whomever it is I highly doubt if he'll have much of an impact.

Willy was our late addition a year ago, and he has some skills. He played out of position last year so I think he'll be better this season.

For what its worth...there is some activity on twitter for Jack B and JJJ in that they have recently added to follow (and have been followed) by some LIU related accounts such as Assistant Coaches, the official LIU athletics page, etc. This is something or this is nothing. Who knows.

Who knows. Thanks for the update. We'll know soon enough. I hope things work out for these young men, but I am honestly only interested in this situation to the extent that it might impact our APR appeal.

By the way, someone, I believe PTC, mentioned that WOTS was that the NCAA was waiting to see that Triple J and Ballantyne actually enrolled before considering the appeal. Note that classes don't start at LIU until after Labor Day. Final registration doesn't end until September 17.

They should be there working with their teammates.they are looking like the teammates I thought they were and I had a positive perspective of JJ but I am starting to think I am wrong about him and maybe some of the so called negative garbage about him is truer than I thought.
