Seems like I can't win here or I'm somehow in the wrong. I typically give in the 4 digit range - not huge, but not chump change either. I'm annoyed by the recent years of shoddy play, the whole BA & JJ era, the S*** my D*** incident, the recent academic ineligibility issues, the whole MBM thing, and now the waiting and waiting and waiting for a roster. This rather minor thing has pushed me over the edge, especially since other posters seem to be getting info or have knowledge of a some of the secret info, like the MBM thing, the schedule, info release dates, etc.. Plus, one of the posters put it something like this: - "the Coaches must be amused when they check the board and see all the detective work Scout is doing and how wildly off base his guesses are..". Why should I amuse the staff searching hours every day for a possible 6'5" unannounced player, when they can put out a roster? Why should I be emailing Basketball writers in Egypt and trying to translate languages, etc in an attempt to find out the name of a player who we've heard about since early summer (May?) and now somehow won't even be in uniform until December, if at all? My frustration has boiled over and now we get another delay and it seems like after all the anticipation of a roster release (multiple times), it ends in disappointment again and it seems like the staff just doesn't want to be bothered releasing a roster which should have come out at least a month ago. The only way I can voice my displeasure is not to give this year at all, especially with new fundraising initiatives being introduced. If they call, I will ask for an official in the AD's office and tell them why, but realistically, does anyone really think the average fan can just call Mike Davis this afternoon and he'll answer, talk with you and give you unreleased team info and his thought process/reasoning for doing things? I sense that I've somehow become LivernoisMagic or Titans96 since I'm unhappy with the roster release and my anger has led to me posting my dispeasure, but I don't believe I've done nothing wrong and I know that donating money is not a condition for posting on this board or a measure of fan worthiness. It seems like a poster I really respect has turned on me in recent days and that hurts. As I contemplate, the "see ya later" suggestion, I want to go on record that I remain a Titan fan and whether I remain or not, I wish the team and my fellow die-hards well in the future. No, you're not a Livernois Magic or Titan96 at all. I tell my students, you can say anything in class, just be respectful of differences and make reasoned arguments. I think you do that here always, and I hope I meet my own standard, too. You're constructive, not grinding axes from some distant controversy, not cherry picking data points or relentlessly negative. In fact, you're a Pillar of the Board (that's a new award we'll be giving out annually!). And I understand the frustration, too--people feel like "what leverage do I have other than withholding my donation?" The answer is, very little, I'm just saying, I don't think that will accomplish what you want. So it really comes down to this--are you going to stop supporting the program or not? If you care about the program, will withdrawing your support be helpful to something you care about? It's one of the frustrating things--there's not much one can do if you don't like how things are being run. If it's any consolation, BTW, I suspect you could go through most programs and find things for true fans to be irritated about. Maybe some questions in this year's prediction contest will be 1) Will the Titans actually ever add a mystery big man? 2) Assuming so, who? 3) On what date? Or maybe a simpler one--the quiz will probably go out around Mid October; maybe I'll just ask people to guess the roster release date. We can make it multiple choice: a) before the season opener b) before the conference opener c) Not this season, baby. d) Roster? We don't need no stinkin' roster! e) c and d are both correct

Consider my position: the two biggest posters, you and Sam, are up in arms about this. I'm like a bar owner about to lose his regulars! And it's not even my fault. I put out snacks (an unofficial roster) and it had no effect!

I will gladly punch anyone who says you are like either of the clowns you mentioned above. (I hate to even type their names.) You're one of the posters that makes this board an enjoyable read, Scout. I think just about everyone recognizes that.

Where? I just went to DetroitTitans.com and it was still last year’s roster.

First, I think the delayed roster release is a pretty minor annoyance compared with the transgressions of the past 10 years (Keri Gaither, the bungled Bacari episode) and I am perplexed at the tempest. Why is the roster release so important? I mean, I understand the desire for a schedule release because I want to plan which road games I am going to. But the roster? The importance of knowing it today rather than next week escapes me.
Second, I agree with Commish's essay on donors and supporting a program / college. In the large picture, I support the institution for what it does, regardless of whether decisions are made that I might disagree with, and I don't expect my contributions to lead to policy or operational changes. If my disagreements become large enough (which they obviously have not) then I will stop giving. But until then, I continue to support UDM.
Third, some things are just out of the basketball program's control. If they have a mystery player lined up but for whatever reason he has not signed or his admission has not been approved or the NCAA is nickel-and-diming about qualifying to play, the Athletic Department can't do anything. I'd hate to lose a quality player because the department preempted his announcement and he backed out.

I just saw the press release. Curry appears gone. I didn’t see him at practice yesterday and feared he might be gone.

There is still a chance for an additional player or two for the Northeastern game.

That's unfortunate. He had the bad knee injury at his prior college. Sounds like it may have blown out again. Too bad. He will need our support.

I was anticipating a pretty good year from him in 2019-20. With Miller joining Curry I felt pretty good about our front line even without the MBM. Seems quite thin now. Need Boe to step it up or Willie to develop an inside game--which may not be the best use of Willie's talent.

I think if you’re a hardcore fan who reads the message boards almost everyday, you didn’t really learn anything new other than the fact that Curry isn’t on the team. Most of us figured that the two alleged international players wouldn’t be on this roster since it’s been reported they aren’t joining until next semester. I’m not calling coach a liar, but I’m not very convinced we will see those two players this season. You don’t often hear of players enrolling in January and playing, especially for a mid major like us where the ncaa can hold up eligibility for foreign players (think Isiani).
If you’re a more casual fan or alum and get most of your Titan news from Facebook or twitter, you learned some names that those of us here already knew. Some interesting guys like Hofman, Calipari, Maxwell. It’s an interesting recruiting class but I think hard to argue a great recruiting class. You read the press release and you see that Pink is a two star recruit, and you’re not quite sure how good Hofman might be based on his international play. There’s no local HS talent like McFolley or Allen. Not to say these guys won’t exceed expectations and play well, but I don’t think the recruiting class gets people very excited.
Ultimately, the post-season ban is still the cloud that hangs over this program. I have zero faith in the ncaa reversing the ban even though it now appears JJJ and JB are at LIU. I’m just accustomed to things not going our way. I think coach Davis was the best we could have done as a hire, but we are still deeply paying for the fallout from the BA era unfortunately. I’m expecting a rough non-con record and probably a slightly below .500 conference performance followed by a HL tourney that doesn’t include us. Hard to get excited about that, but I hope things somehow end up going better.

Thirteen on roster, but four reportedly are not on scholarship. That means if the are no additional players joining the team this season, we have four scholarship slots unused.
I remember in the interview after the season-ending loss to NKU, Coach D’s first remarks on the post-game interview were that we need to get bigger fast, so lack of size in today’s roster announcement is a bit disappointing.
Antoine Davis’ weight listed as 160 on the roster, I know there was talk of bulking him up during the offseason.
Does anyone know what happened to the international big men Coach D spoke about just a couple weeks ago? Were they kidnapped? At the risk of sounding foolish, is there anything anyone’s heard suggesting one or both might still enroll for the winter semester?
