(Just a one day production. Perry would not commit past one day for sponsorship, due to the pandemic.)

First final is in and it's a surprise. East Tennessee State University, 30-4 last season, gets blown out by Abilene Christian, 70-47. Great start to the season for the ACU Wildcats.

In a near shocker, South Florida beat Florida College 94-84. FC had the lead at the half, 46-42. The USF coaching staff can't be happy with that defense.
Florida College is a Christian college in Temple Terrace, Florida. They are an NAIA program.

Thanksgiving Eve blessed us with a whole slate of college basketball action. Welcome back, hoop. We missed you.
Warning: It's always a mistake to draw too much from early season results, and that will certainly be the case in this unusual year.
Horizon League: Xavier 101, Oakland 49
Northern Kentucky 74, Ball State 73
Minnesota 99, Green Bay 69
Purdue Fort Wayne 67, SE Louisiana 63
UIC 65, Northern Illinois 61
The State's Big Boys #13 Michigan State 83, EMU 67. The Eagles only dressed eight players.
#25 Michigan 96, Bowling Green 82
Top 25
#3 Nova 76, Boston College 67
#4 Virginia 89, Towson 54
#5 Iowa 97, North Carolina Central 67
#7 Wisconsin 77, Eastern Illinois 67
#10 Kentucky 81, Morehead State 45
#14 Texas Tech 101, Northwestern State 58
#15 West Virginia 79, South Dakota State 71
#16 North Carolina 79, Charleston 60
#17 Houston 89, Lamar 45
#18 Arizona State 94, Rhode Island 88
#19 Texas 91,UT Rio Grand Valley 55
San Diego State 73, #22 UCLA 58
#23 Ohio State 94, Illinois State 67
#24 Rutgers 86, Sacred Heart 63
Other Games of Interest: Maryland 85, Old Dominion 67
Providence 97, Fairfield 56
Drake 80, Kansas State 70 (On a normal day, this could be a Mid Major win of the Day)
Bradley 61, Toledo 59
UMass-Lowell 76, San Francisco 68 .Tough loss for the Dons.
Georgetown 70, UMBC 62
Butler 66, Western Michigan 62. Good showing for the Broncos.
Purdue 77, Liberty 64 Army 93, US Merchant Marine Academy 32. I did not know that the USMMA was a thing. Navy 78, George Washington 71 Pepperdine 86, UC Irvine 72 Oregon State 71, Cal 63 Davidson 82, High Point 73 Missouri 91, Oral Roberts 63 St. John's 72, St. Peters 71 Indiana 89, Tennessee Tech 59 TCU 69, Houston Baptist 45 Montana State 91, UNLV 78 Marquette 99, Arkansas Pine Bluff 57 Louisville 79, Evansville 44
MID MAJOR WIN OF THE DAY: Georgia State 123, Georgia Tech 120, in four overtimes. Former Titan Corey Allen had 22 points and 9 rebounds for GSU in 50 minutes. Look for a big season from Mr. Allen, who entered the season with 1,284 career points. This was Georgia State's first win over an ACC team in 27 tries. The two schools are only separated by three miles.

Thanks very much sam for taking the time to compile the scoreboard on such a busy opening day of D-1 hoops. It really was an exciting day and hopefully in one week, we'll be seeing our Titans play the Spartans.
For mid-major win of the day, did you consider St. Francis (PA) 80 Pitt 70? I think that deserves at least a co-honor with GA State - GA Tech. Also, the father and uncle of our current women's BB player Brigid Fox played hoops at St. Francis. And Brigid herself had 10 points and 7 rebounds yesterday vs Xavier.
Best of luck to Corey Allen this year.

A good start for Horizon League with 3-2 result vs D1 opponents, including a 2-0 score against MAC teams.

I also considered that Drake win over Kansas State, and San Diego State over UCLA. UCLA is ranked, so that had merit, but San Diego State is one of the top mid major programs around, and UCLA was missing a couple of starters. I went with GSU over GT mostly because of the drama of the four OT game and the Panthers recording their first victory over an ACC team after such a long drought. But I wouldn't argue with someone who thought the St. Francis win was more fitting. Awaiting word from Perry Drugs (and the Commissioner) on if Perry Scoreboard continues after today.

Day 2 of the 2020-21 season had a lot of action.
Horizon League: Toledo 80, Oakland 53. OU continues a rough start. Toledo bounces back the way they wanted to after a close loss on Wednesday.
Top 25: #1 Gonzaga 102, #6 Kansas 90. People are saying this is Mark Few's best team. #3 Villanova 83, #18 Arizona State 74 #8 Illinois 97, Chicago State 38. Poor Chicago State. #15 West Virginia 78, VCU 66. The first time I ever heard of Virginia Commonwealth University was when the Titans played them in the post season a long time ago. I remember a news article saying that it sounded like the Titans were playing a bank.
Other games of interest: Xavier 51, Bradley 50 Nevada 69, Nebraska 66 St. John's 82, LaSalle 65. Pearl Washington over Lionel Simmons EDIT: Larry Titan rightly shamed me for referring to St. John's as Pearl Washington's school. I don't know what I was thinking. Ohio 84, North Carolina A&T 72 San Francisco 79, Towson 68 Auburn 96, St. Joseph's 91 Boston College 69, Rhode Island 64 Clemson 81, Purdue 70. Clemson has a couple of wins over other high majors to get their season going. Western Kentucky 75, Memphis 69. Will this be the year that WKU reaches the heights expected under Stansbury? St. Mary's 66, Northern Iowa 64 LSU 94, SIU-Edwardsville 81
Mid Major Win of the Day Liberty 84, Mississippi State 74. Liberty had a good season last year and Mississippi State is expected to struggle, but it's still a win over an SEC team.

Well done, Sam. Thanks for putting it together!
I read yesterday that this Gonzaga team is outstanding defensively. Thought that sounded odd being that they're giving up 90 ppg at this point. I realize it was Kansas, but it seemed odd timing for the statement. 😁

You’re the best, Sam. Too bad I have to wait until 2021-22 season to visit Detroit again.
