AD came here with a amazing amount of skills and basketball knowledge. He hasn't improved either going into his 3rd year of D1 ball. Because he is a coaches son and brother we have to assume was the reason he had those skills when he came here. Perhaps those coaches are the wrong coaches for AD to reach the next level. I disagree. He's simply in a deep slump shooting 3-point shots. His defense has improved. His floor game has improved. His 2-point shooting remains solid. His free throw shooting remains top-drawer. Overall, he is making better decisions more often than he was in the past two years. He is playing more as a team player. His floor game in the second half got us back in the game yesterday and helped get us the lead. He's doing everything better except making 3-point baskets. While all of us (including me) were being a bunch of Captain Obviousnesses and noting his poor shooting, after yesterday's game, he got back out on the floor and practiced more shooting in an effort to break his shooting slump. That's a player for whom we should root to succeed because he cares and because he works at getting better.

I agree with everything you said, but he is not materially better that he was when he walked in the door, neither is the team. I don't believe he's in a slump, teams have learned how to play him, and AD still ay times has poor shot selection. What we do have is a talented player, whom works hard, with better players, one would hope this team should start winning. A 18 to 20 PPG AD is still a great asset, not to be wasted.

So, your point is that he needs to score more points per game. I agree. He's missing a lot more open shots this year. And he's not taking as many questionable shots this year. Is he perfect? No. Yesterday, we climbed back into the game and took the lead briefly in the second half because of his unselfish play and his assists to Johnson and Kuol that created 10 points. Freshman Antoine would not have done that under pressure. Can he play much better? Yes. Can he shoot much better? Yes. We have a much better team this year than in the past two years. For various reasons, we are just getting to the point where we can play the 9-10 guys per game that we envisioned in August. We played a very good team on the weekend. And a very physical team that played two bigs against our small line-up. We held our own despite the fact that these games were really the way that Brandon and Koka could get familiar again with our play. And Waterman will be available for our next games. I believe that we will be a much tougher and stronger team by mid-January and a threat to win the HL tournament.

Is Waterman eligible (per Horizon COVID protocols) this week? One of the announcers, radio or TV I can’t specifically recall, suggested he would if the Titans do get a chance to schedule a game this coming weekend. Despite not be able to play against WSU due to the COVID protocol, Waterman was in the team huddles with his mask not covering his nose.

The scheduling of games with this virus has turned college basketball into AAU basketball, scheduling where and when you can. Actually this type of scheduling has worked for mid majors.

In order for us to win games this season, AD is going to have to be a real facilitator. He is going to have to take a back seat and allow the guys around him to score. This will allow the team to succeed. He’s a shoot first point guard, which is why we are loosing. The pieces are there to win, question is, will dad allow that to happen.
It’s obvious that he wants AD to be the man. Who else is gonna play a kid 38plus minutes when he’s missing shots and turning it over. No other coach in America would allow that.
Truthfully he shot it bad last season as well, coach was just able to justify it because he handicapped the rest of the team. He had players capable but they were so afraid to make mistakes. Which is opposite of this years group, transfers who have decided, this is my last stop, I’m going out to prove myself.
Can we win the HL, yes we can, but it will depend on the role AD decides to take. “I’m getting mine” or I’ll be the QB.

Is Waterman eligible (per Horizon COVID protocols) this week? Assuming that he does not test positive, he will be eligible to play in the HL starting this coming weekend.. I would not expect a quick announcement of a new non-conference game for the weekend. Given what happened to IUPUI this weekend, the league may not want us schedule a game in case it has to rearrange its schedule due to another COVID problem on another team.

We could end up with a real historic throwback game, say Detroit YMCA!

A struggling AD at shooting plus a team still trying to get use to each other.

It would be appropriate for the HL to schedule us versus Oakland on Boxing Day. Although us vs the Detroit YMCA was looking like a very attractive alternative.

If the Horizon League doesn't schedule us a game, Kentucky is suddenly available....
