If they really did negotiate a few weeks ago I would have 2 questions in that case. Was there an effort to retain some of the players in that push? And if so does that mean someone like marsh would stay on? He’s pretty liked by the guys and a good defensive coach who I had heard at some point might’ve been in line to take over. (Obviously don’t think that now) Maybe an enterprising reporter for the student newspaper can dig out these answer....

I’d like jones from grambiling personally but really open to whoever they bring in. As for the players I have heard that a few plan on staying and a few others want to wait and see who is hired. So no mass exodus just yet. Stone is still deciding whether or not to go pro from what I can tell on that end. Back to my personal opinion I think tank enters the portal to see his options and probably leaves. I think tyree is probably gone. French is a big ? Because he can’t really transfer again so if he wants to play he’s playing here.

That's over-reaction RBJ. The move was made because it had to be made, and there are certainly players who shared in the responsibility for this disastrous season. But to dis Tank and Tobin and lump them in as part of the problem is wrong. I agree we need a fresh start, but you don't dump out the good apples in the process if they want to be part of the rebuild.

Morehead for example. Take a guy like Kuac who got better and healthier throughout the season only has 1 more left, shot it better and defended well. Probably a guy the new coach would want to retain to have some veteran leadership who’s been in the building. Even if it’s in a more limited role

Hard to fathom how in the 8 years since Ray left the conference has consistently gotten worse... and we've won 33% of our games.
Couldnt have turned out worse. Hope we crack the code with the next hire.

You really want Stone, but that's super unlikely. I assume the new coach will focus on getting Tank and Hurst to stay. They're the potential foundation. I'd try to keep Oaks--he's big, and at times looked OK. Kuac could help. If Tchikou wants to "return," that would probably be worthwhile. I think everyone else is expendable, though I wouldn't run off guys like Manciel, Davis, and Johnson. Remember, this team did lose 31 games. We need a lot of roster turnover. If the new coach keeps Tank and Hurst, I'd consider that a real successful beginning.

It would be nice to get at least 3-4 of them back. Sometimes, different pieces on the roster make the returning pieces better fits. Also, it makes recruiting a bit easier on the new coach and staff.

I've been extremely vocal since the start of the season that I'm a big fan of Tankersley. I'd love to have him back. The (potential) problem is that he just spent a full D1 season playing first or second fiddle as a scoring option on a game by game basis. In my opinion... on a very good D1 mid major (which I think we should aspire to be), I would look at Marcus as a 3rd or maybe 4th option. He may not like that as I'm sure lots of kids would not. All that said, if anyone could deal with something like that I'm sure it'd be him. I'd also like to see Hurst, Johnson and Oaks back... though I see them all as depth pieces. I've already mentally bid farewell to Stone... which sucks because I think he'd be a solid contributor even on a very good team ala Jason Calliste.

Oaks is no stat stuffer, but if you watched him on defense he altered or even prevented shots. Didn't necessarily block them, but the shooter passed rather than shot. And until we get a big guy for the middle....
Kuac is a head-scratcher. Incredibly athletic, quite a leaper, but he only wants to shoot from the arc. That COULD be OK if he would try to rebound, too, but he parked himself on the perimeter instead of going inside and using his leaping ability. No way he should have averaged just three rebounds a game. (I know, he didn't play much, but maybe that's why.)
Mak is the only outside shooter on the team and a decent ball-handler.
Whoever takes over needs to teach his players to pass better and not give up the ball. Way too many turnovers.

I know we'd all like to put this season in the rear view, but I would like to see a return of some of the guys mentioned by UDBaller, NCT, Alex, and PTC. There are some contributors in that group, and hopefully they'll be teamed up with some capable newcomers. At the very least they're already admitted to the University, so that is one hurdle cleared.
