Last year, Michigan played 2 NBA 1st round picks, a bunch of 4 and 5 star recruits, plus Hunter Dickinson. The Wolverines were just barely above .500. I wonder how restless Wolverine hoops fans are now and will become if his on-court results continue below Beilein's.

Except anyone who watched them knew that neither one of them were top 30 prospects in the World. Howard will hang around for awhile because he is Howard’s son and then fade away. Bugling or what ever his name is will fade away a lot faster! And while I’m on it how did they go ahead or most of the selections last night go before Jackson-Davis? Because Davis doesn’t shoot the 3 and if the three is so important than why not AD? Because he is 6’1” 165#’s and plays through injuries?

The fact that Bufkin and Jett went so high would seem to indicate that it wasn't really a strong draft. Today's NBA also drafts on "potential" more than actual performance in the college game. It's makes for a bad product. I think Jackson Davis will outshine a lot of guys who went before him. Just on effort and work ethic alone he'll outperform a lot of current NBA players.

OK, those 2 players were overrated for pro purposes. Do you think that UM fans will continue to give Howard the benefit of the doubt if he continues to underperform Beilein this season?

OK, those 2 players were overrated for pro purposes. Do you think that UM fans will continue to give Howard the benefit of the doubt if he continues to underperform Beilein this season? Okay, this is just speculation, but I do think the heat will turn up on Howard. Heck, it turned up this past season, which was his only "bad" year, even though it came after back to back trips to the Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen. But that's fans for you. There are fans who want Izzo fired, Calipari fired, Matt Painter fired, etc. I think that Howard is on firmer ground with UM administration than he is with the loud members of the fanbase, but I could be wrong about that. It's also worth noting that Howard's first for years at Michigan have been significantly better than JB's first four years at Michigan. People are comparing the best years of Beilein 27 year D1 head coaching career with the first four years of JH's head coaching career.

Michigan adds another member to the class of 2023 with a late pick up of Argentine big man Lee Aaliya. The 6-9 center had to go through the NCAA clearinghouse to ensure he had eligibility for college, and he was successful in that effort. He has experience playing for the Argentine senior national team, and played with Argentina in the Under 19 FIBA games this summer, where he was named second team all tournament. Should provide some depth at the center spot. www.mlive.com/wolverines/2023/08/argentine-addition-gives-michigan-basketball-another-option-at-center.html

It would be nice if Howard gave his son's alma mater so much as a single guarantee game in Ann Arbor. Is that really asking too much?

I guess it depends on the relationship with that son................

I guess it depends on the relationship with that son................ Might also depend on the relationship between Juwan Sr. and Ray McCallum. In addition to being JH2's coach, Ray was an assistant coach at Michigan when Juwan was playing there. If Juwan and Ray are close, Juwan might not want to do a favor for the school that fired Ray. I don't know if that's a factor, though. It could just be scheduling or other issues.

Michigan is 2-0 on the young season, with both wins coming against mid major teams that are expected to be pretty good. The highlight for Michigan, however, has been the play of point guard Dug McDaniel, who is averaging 19 points and 6 assists so far. Michigan was hurt last year by the season ending injury to their starting point guard Jae Lewellyn (who has yet to play his season, also) but a that injury allowed then-freshman McDaniel to get a lot of experience. He seems much improved, which would bode well for the Wolverines.
Michigan gets a real test in a marquee game against St. John's on Monday.

The good start to the season continued last night for Michigan as they crashed Fox Sports 1's Garden Party in honor of Rick Pitino and blitzed St. John's, 89-73. The game that wasn't close after the break. Michigan got hot late in the first half and turned a close game into a ten point lead, and just poured it on in the second half. The lead got up to 26 before some garbage time play closed the gap, as some of the deep bench Michigan guys got to play in the Mecca of Basketball.
St. John's only hit 36% from the floor for the game, while Michigan hit 52%. The Wolverines host Long Beach State this Friday, but then hit a gauntlet: Consecutive games against Memphis, Oregon, Indiana, and Iowa.
