From an article: EMU play by play voice Tom Helmer says the team success wasn’t there, but Bates showed that he has enough talent to play at the next level. “I don’t see any scenario where he comes back to Eastern Michigan to play another year. I don't think he'll come back to EMU. I'm not sure how much he's shown regarding his ability on the next level, though. Low shooting percentage, tendency to disappear, inconsistent effort. Then again, we're talking about the NBA of the 2020s; he might flourish.

Lovejoy is in the transfer portal. My guess is that means guys like Acuff and Farrakhan are coming back.

Lovejoy is in the transfer portal. My guess is that means guys like Acuff and Farrakhan are coming back. Maybe not. Per Twitter, Noah Farrakhan is in the portal for the second time. That surprises me. I thought he was in a good position at EMU.

EMU forward Colin Golson has entered the transfer portal. It's his second transfer. He averaged 5 and 3 last year, down from 8 and 4 the previous season.

EMU with an interesting verbal commitment as 7 foot center Cyril Martynov is transferring in from Georgia Tech. Cyril was a definite "project" in the class of 2022, but he had several offers from high major programs, eventually signing with Georgia Tech. He only played 18 minutes all season, however. With the coaching change in Atlanta, he hit the portal. He is an intriguing prospect. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/gamelog/_/id/5105432/cyril-martynov

Lovejoy is in the transfer portal. My guess is that means guys like Acuff and Farrakhan are coming back. Per a Detroit News article, Orlando Lovejoy is leaving the portal and returning to EMU for the coming season. That's good news for EMU.

EMU making improvements to the home arena. Per an email from Eastern:
"When you return to the George Gervin GameAbove Center, you will see and feel noticeable improvements to the gameday experience including Wi-Fi installation and upgraded 5G service throughout the arena. You will also see that the videoboard upgrades will be completed to make the in-game experience even better for all fans in attendance."

That surprises me. I thought he was in a good position at EMU. Noah Farrakhan verbally committed to West Virginia this week. I was wondering where he was going to land, and what was taking too long. He'll need a waiver to be eligible this year, but there are Mountaineer fans on social media saying that the plan accepted by both sides is that he will sit out this year and be ready to do in 2024-25. Might be a little risky, because the coach at WVU this season is the interim guy taking over for Huggins this season is the interim head coach, and if he isn't retained the new guy has no allegiance to Noah. We'll see.

Morgantown is a good situation for him, the place is always sold out, a good college experience.

EMU has posted their roster. It shows a total of 15 players. They bring back seven guys who played significant minutes last season. They add three transfers: a forward who barely played for Illinois a big center who played very little as a freshman at Georgia Tech, and a guard who averaged about ten points per game over two years at Binghamton after spending two years at St. John's. emueagles.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster

Couldn’t help but notice that EMU has 8 players listed taller than 6-6……Titans have 3.
