Unfortunately, it's looking like Aiken is dealing with an ankle again. Actually very sad to see a kid not able to stay healthy. That poor kid. Worst luck with injuries.

Couple of notable wins for Big East squads yesterday.
Providence moves to 16-2 with their win over Butler. That's the Friars best start since the 1970s.
Marquette beat another ranked team; this time it was Xavier. That's the sixth Quad 1 win for Marquette this year, which is second in the country. Marquette is 14-6. They won 13 games all of last year.

With their win yesterday, Providence clinched the first regular season Big East title in their history.
And to think, a lot of "fans" were calling for Ed Cooley to be fired last season.

Interesting read on how the Big East conference tournament plays to sold out crowds in Madison Square Garden while the ACC tournament underperforms at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. I don't understand why they run the ACC tournament in New York City. www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/acc/article259260064.html

Butler's decision to fire Coach Jordan took some by surprise. The timing is curious. Seems like he would have been let go right after the season ended, but I imagine the April 1 date had something to do with reducing his buyout.
Going to be interesting to watch how Butler does over the next few years. The Big East is a strong conference and Butler doesn't have some of the advantages that other schools in the conference have.

Advantages? They should$ have thought of that before they jumped into Bie East after one year in the A10.

Butler goes with a familiar name for their new head coach. It's an old head coach. Thad Matta, who coached Butler for one year 20 years ago, has been hired to coach the Bulldogs again.

Matta is a good coach, he never should have left Butler. Maybe that's a trend being to start, Xavier did the same thing....How about PW?

Big off season so far in the Big East as three programs have new coaches: Shaheen Holloway at Seton Hall, Thad Matta at Butler, and Sean Miller at Xavier. Homecomings for all, as Holloway played at Seton Hall and Matta and Miller previously coached at their schools.

Kyle Neptune, head coach at Fordham and former Villanova assistant, has been named to replace Jay Wright as head coach of the Wildcats.
Fordham was 16-16 this past season.

Official Big East Preseason Poll has Villanova in their customary spot at the top. 1. Villanova 2. UConn 3. Xavier 4. St. John's 5. Seton Hall 6. Butler 7. Providence 8. Creighton 9. Marquette 10. Georgetown 11. DePaul A few months after a small but loud group of "fans" were calling for his firing, Ed Cooley led Providence to the Big East title and one of their best seasons in history. The Friars finished at 26-7, 14-3. Georgetown went from winning the Big East tourney title in 2021 to going 0-19 in 2021-22. Jay Wright surprised the college basketball world by resigning at the end of the season, ending one of the best coaching careers of his era. In year one in Milwaukee, in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year, Shaka Smart got Marquette back in the Big Dance. The season will open this fall with new coaches in place at Seton Hall, Butler, Xavier, and Villanova. Six Big East teams made the NCAA tournament, and Xavier won the NIT. Big East basketball still rules. Final Big East 2021-22 Standings: Providence Villanova UConn Creighton Seton Hall Marquette Xavier St. John's DePaul Butler Georgetown

Georgetown is coming off of a brutal season, but the program has had a good Spring in the transfer market. The Hoyas have added the following players:
Qudus Wahab, 6-11/240 center. Transfer from Maryland. Actually spent two years at Georgetown before transferring for some explicable reason to Maryland. All his numbers fell with the Terps, and the center hopes to get back to the 12/8 he averaged under Coach Ewing. Boomerang transfer. Needs waiver.
Bryson Mozone, 6-6 guard forward. Transfer from USC Upstate. Averaged 16 ppg. Four years with USC Upstate, using his extra Covid year.
Bradley Ezewiro, 6-8/246 power forward. Transfer from LSU. Played sparingly as a freshman. Will have three years eligiblity.
Akok Akok, 6-9 power forward. Transfer from UConn. Averaged 3 and 3 for the Huskies.
Jay Heath, 6-3 guard. Transfer from ASU, was previously at Boston College. Averaged 11 ppg for the Sun Devils after averaging 13 and 14 for BC. Will need a waiver.
Primo Spears, 6-3 guard. Transfer from Duquesne. Averaged 13 ppg as a freshman.
Brandon Murray, 6-5 guard. Transfer from LSU. Averaged 10 ppg as a freshman.
Wayne Bristol Jr., 6-6 guard. Transfer from Howard. Averaged 12 ppg as a junior.
The Hoyas will also add four star guard Denver Anglin and three star forward D'Ante Bass from the high school ranks.
Some transfers are taking a step up in competition and there will be chemistry questions, but it looks like an upgraded roster.

I think most of our incoming players will probably have stats like Akok Akok and Bradly Ezewiro. It is what it is.
