I'm thinking we will be getting a commit soon... (We have to right?) Seems like lots of recruits are signing now, foregoing opportunity to visit schools later this spring or summer. I’m hoping for some LOI’s this week or next, otherwise we might be waiting until late July.

At this point Davis & Company are just trying to fill out the roster. This is the indictment on Davis and his staff at this point. Yes, it could change if we grab some good guys out of left field but as we are seeing its not evident those are going to turn up. The first season was definitely scramble mode to get a roster pulled together, totally expected. Last year...well, we had the Egpytian fall through in July or August and perhaps we shouldn't have had all our eggs in that 1 player's basket (and maybe we didn't). Now this year we are behind the eight ball with the roster and trying to fight off the likes of Portland State and North Alabama to get transfers on board. Davis era needs a jump start or something, we aren't getting the excitement and results we all had envisioned when he was hired 25 months ago. Now I'll go get more depressed by reading covid news...

We are not getting quality recruits or in play for many. That’s just objective at this point. I can’t help but wonder if we have been told by the NCAA that we have another post-season ban and that we are obligated to inform recruits.

The NCAA is waiving standardized test scores for incoming freshmen. Incoming freshman student-athletes in both Division I and II will have the standardized test score requirement waived for 2020-21 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the NCAA Eligibility Center announced Friday. I’m guessing that significantly increases the pool of prospects available to sign an LOI virtually overnight.

Fraser is probably about as good a get as we can expect. I mean that in a positive way. Very veteran reliable guard - I think he will turn 24 during the season?

He was one of the very best players that were had offered at this point. I don't get too excited about grad transfers, but he should be good. Step 2 is for him to not get hurt for the entire season like Maxwell did this year.

More background stuff, this from when he signed with VCU in the early period. Note there is a bit of a Houston connection.
“Fraser is a 6’5″, 195 pound, hard-nosed, combo guard who prides himself on tough defense and his play-making ability with great size and ball skills. He played at Mountain Mission School in Grundy, VA and Southwest Christian Academy in Houston, TX before deciding to go back home for his senior season in Canada. He was one of the more under the radar guards on the AAU circuit this summer despite playing at a very high level for UPLAY Canada AAU under Coach Dwayne Washington. He helped lead his team to the 17U Silver Bracket Championship at the 2015 Adidas Championships in Las Vegas, NV this past July. Fraser is also heavily involved in Canada’s Junior National Men’s Basketball program under Coach Roy Rana. Over the course of the recruiting process Fraser had major interest from Georgia Tech, Memphis, Iowa, DePaul, Bradley, Minnesota, James Madison, UNLV, Xavier, Utah, Toledo, Middle Tennesee, Northern Arizona, Oregon State, Indiana State, Charlotte, Western Kentucky, USC, California, Miami, and Northwestern among others. Fraser officially visited Bradley and James Madison.”
He was a 3-star recruit out of high school. One service classified him as a point guard, above says combo guard. I’ve seen his height given as 6-5 and 6-4 in high school, 6-3 at Idaho.
