Thought it was pretty clear. They are a couple of class of 2024 recruits who took an unofficial recruiting visit to the University of Detroit this week and posted about it on social media.

Further adventures.
Wore my vintage University of Detroit t-shirt to the Detroit Jazz Festival today. Lady comes up to me wants to know where she can buy one, wants to get it for her dad who attended there before the consolidation. Another guy stops me, says he loves my shirt, tired of seeing all the U-M stuff, wished he was smart enough to have attended the University of Detroit when he was younger. A third guy starts a conversation, says he enrolled at the school in 1995 and got his MBA there before U of D “bought Mercy.” I told him the consolidation was in 1990, but he claimed I was wrong.

(With apologies to the Temptations and the writers of Ball of Confusion)
"Some say U-D Some say UDM Why?; because of the uncertainty within Run, run, run, but you're sure can't hide
UD for the Jesuits Add an M for the Nuns Consultants say U of D must go away
Goodbye, history, goodbye
The only people talking about "Mercy Rules" are the Sisters And it seems we had a good chance to set things right, but we missed it
Spencer Haywood, Dave DeBusschere, John Long, Dorie Murrey Dick Vitale, Smokey Gaines, save us, please, you better hurry Ball of Confusion That's what our name is today, hey, hey..."

This is inspired work Sam!! My favorite line was "The only people talking about "Mercy Rules" are the Sisters " especially if you imagine it with the attitude and energy of the original line.

There is a traditional red t-shirt with "Detroit" in white letters now available for sale on the Titan online gift shop. $16 each. Link to shirt. Hope they don't have "Mercy" imprinted with invisible ink that appears after you wash it. I bought a bunch to wear on the road this season starting at NC State and Clemson.

Just got through listening to the first “Reach the Horizon” podcast, an interview with Commissioner John LeCrone. FWIW, he makes three references to our University during the show, each time referring to the school as “Detroit.”

I would be willing to bet that LeCrone and other conference officials wish that we had gone back to the University of Detroit.

I happen to know a UD Jesuit High Trustee. I was talking to him today about the field, lights and all of that and any relationship with the high school. What’s really sad is that even he doesn’t fully understand our merger and branding problems. Still calls us “U of D” even though I’ve explained the merger. He thought our “Mercy” campus was in Southfield but that we were still U of D I think. That’s not a knock against him, he’s super intelligent, but probably doesn’t care to learn about the rebrand just like most people.
Maybe some people don’t care, but I find it super frustrating to be a fan with the rebrand problems.

Further adventures
Just arrived on campus for homecoming this afternoon, thought I’d wear my vintage logo U of D t-shirt for old time sakes. A volunteer working the registration booth asks me where I got my shirt. He says “I’m tired of wearing stuff with ‘Mercy’ on it.”

I am used to there being inconsistency across the various preview magazines with regards to our name, but Street & Smith is inconsistent all by themselves. In their HL preview there are four references to us as Detroit (including the heading of our capsule description and in the projected standings) and one reference to Detroit M@#$y.
Edit: Thanks for RogoBob for helping me to realize my mistake. It is not Street and Smith that is inconsistent when referencing the name of the school; it is the Lindy's preview.

Because I was going off memory and made a mistake. It is Lindy's that has the mixed uses, not S&S. My mistake.
