Pitino at his press conference said most of the St John's players won't be back next year, maybe we should be on the phone and see if we can get some of them.

If they hit the portal, we should definitely reach out. Never hurts to "reach out." I think most of the players would be thinking another high major, but who knows. Most of their players are from the east coast, but a couple are at least generally "midwest." Freshman AJ Storr is from outside Chicago. He was a top 100 recruit, averaged 8.9 ppg this year. Whether he's prepared to call it quits on the high major life is doubtful. O'Mar Stanley is a 6-8, 240 lb. banger from Overland Park Ks. Sophomore averaged 4.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg. Ethiopian-born Esahia Nyiwe went to high school in Omaha. He's 6-10 but thin, might be a better mid-major player. Averaged 1.4 ppg in 27 games. Only has 1 year left. Based on performance at St. John's, and geography, those might be the most likely candidates.

Don't we have to wait until they hit the portal? If we reach out to a player who has NOT entered the portal isn't that impermissible meddling?

The guy this staff would most likely succeed @ signing would be Nyiwe. He averaged 1.4 ppg last season, thats a Mike Davis type of player.

Based on our current roster, we have the start of a talented and experienced starting lineup and rotation. The table below assumes that Stone does not return for the 2023-24 season.
PG LeGreair SG Moss SF Anderson PF Liddell C Parks
Rotation: Tankersky, Coleman, & Johnson Role Player: Hurst

From what I’ve heard from one source, none of the guys who participated in the senior day ceremony (including Parks, Liddell, Moss and Anderson) as well as Stone will be back next season. That’s “unofficial” and I guess things could always change. But it looks like we have seven scholarships to fill (supplementing Pink, Johnson, LeGreair, Hurst, Tankersly and Coleman). Maybe we will learn more about status of the roster and recruitment efforts on Friday at the Titan Club dinner.

Hope springs eternal but the calendar does not say October yet and that's when Coach Davis has roster updates.

Given how long Johnson has been unable to play it would be good to find out if he will return this season, if ever. Someone please ask Davis about this on Friday

From what I understand, all four players (Parks, Liddell, Moss and Anderson) have one year of eligibility remaining. It will be interesting to see if they transfer, attempt playing at the next level, or simply end their basketball playing career.

I’m not 100% sure, but I think most of the guys in that group would have to sit out a year if they transfer due to one or more previous transfers. The fact that none have entered the portal suggests to me that they won’t be playing college ball next season.
