But haven't we been over this and realized that AD very well could be a 'walk on'? We don't need to burn a scholarship on him as the son of a university employee? (although I believe it than becomes a taxable benefit to Coach Davis so he is then out of pocket his tax rate x the taxable value of UDM tuition)

In AD's bio, it lists him as a walk-on I think that results from sloppy editing and proofreading. It's a holdover from his freshman year when he was a walk-on. I didn't read anything after seeing that AD is a Senior. Must have studied like mad during the lockdown.

In the Virtual Roundball this morning, Coach Davis indicated that notwithstanding the games played at Niagara, Waterman has freshman eligibility this year. He noted his high ceiling and said he doesn’t necessarily expect him to be around four years.

Commissioner, I was thinking about our scholarship situation for next season, using your chart for reference. FYI, I noticed that Koka was never added, which threw my numbers off.

So as of this morning, going by the info we have:
Still coming back or incoming (counting against the 13 scholarship limit):
AD Waterman LeGreair Pink Liedel Isiani Koka Harvey Curran McAdoo Ottrix??? (he never signed a LOI and I'm not sure what his status is)
Seniors who are still eligible to return for an extra year but have not announced their intentions (not counting against the 13 scholarship limit):
Fraser Johnson
So it looks like we currently have 2 to 3 scholarships open (depending on Ottrix).
Is this info correct or am I making a wrong assumption somewhere?

hsscout1 - your assumptions are correct. I think that we will bring in 3 more players in addition to the 3 that have been disclosed.

Is this info correct or am I making a wrong assumption somewhere? If we lose Fraser or Johnson or both, then we are a lot weaker than last year. If Koul would have stayed then I think we would be better but now it's starting to look like the never ending rebuild. I am not so sure that Harvey can be an adequate replacement for Koul. We might end up with AD being the penetrator and I still think he is to slight for the job. I am hoping that Fraser and Johnson stay.

Again, I don't know how you can say that without knowing their replacements. If we replace them with Patrick Baldwin and Efton Reed, we'll be a whole lot better. Remember, a year ago you'd probably never heard of Marquel Fraser or Bul Kuol. Time to be patient and wait. I agree, I'd not like to lose Fraser or Johnson. My guess is that we lose Fraser but keep Johnson. But we just have to wait and see.

I agree with Up - we are weaker than last year (so far) and the way Davis recruits (and with the current state of college basketball), every year seems like a rebuild. I thought Kuol was our best player. (And I'm pretty sure Fraser is leaving too, so we are going to feel some more pain). I also agree with Commish - we don't know who else is coming and we have been told to expect some P5 talent incoming (although I'd really prefer some quality high school talent so it doesn't always feel like a rebuild), so we need to be patient. It could be August before we know the entire roster - so maybe extremely patient is more like it

Also, if recent years are any indication, it could be well into the season before we get decisions from the NCAA on waiver requests. I am going to try not to stress about what our "final" roster will look like. 🙂
