I haven't had a chance to listen, but maybe this will answer our questions 7:02 is when they start talking about it. To me its a PR to try to justify and push blame off of them at the beginning of the talk. They say there is 4 factors used in the formula 1) Win % 2) League strength of schedule 3)Road win count as more than a home win 4) Number of games played in the Conference. Now I am really confused on are ranking. We played the #3 team four times (won 1 game on the road), the #1 team twice (won one game on the road)and the #2 twice (lost at home) and the #5 team twice (won on the road twice). Third highest win percentage . Have are wins are on the road. and we are a six seed? ?? There must be a lot of weight on the factor of not missing games ($$$$).

I have no problems with any of the factors used except the one that dinks a team for playing fewer games. That obviously is detrimental to the Titans’ seeding position. I don’t know how much are extra credit they are giving for road games played/won in the secret formula, but it’s probably too much weight.
On a branding note, I listened to the three most recently produced Horizon League podcasts. Two of the broadcasts used “Detroit” consistently in referencing the Titan program, the interview with Antoine Davis used both “Detroit Mercy” and “Detroit.”

The branding issue is so exhausting and tedious. Can’t we not bring it up in every thread., please. Frankly the harping really me turns off whichever board it shows up on. I suspect I might not be the only on that thinks so. I’ve heard every argument since forever. There isn’t anything left to say and griping just gets me down.
No need to dunk on me, ok. I know all the views on this. I don’t need another lecture about how things should be branded.. my dad was a grad , I’m a grad, two nephews are grads my aunt was a mercy grad . My kid worked at the main campus. You know what we never ever ever ever talk about? The name of the U. I’m begging. Enough, please? In a bipartisan spirit enough.
We might be having our best season in several years right now and have a couple of great players to talk about. That is way more fun and interesting I think.
I’ve tossed a fair bit or green at the school and I don’t care what name I make the check out to. The endless kvetching just just turn me off since it doesn’t appear to go anywhere. Can’t we have a long pause and move on or just post that that endless sour rant to its own Thread?
It’s just boring and crazy and I have enough of that with the pandemic already

Sorry if it came across as “harping” and a “sour rant.” I hadn’t listened to any of the HL podcasts of late, so I thought it was something to note (in a couple short sentences) that the conference wasn’t adhering to our University’s branding guidelines five years post-rollout. It was meant as a criticism of the HL Communications staff for being sloppy, and I think you read more into the remark which of course you are free to do.
My advice when encountering something you find boring and exhausting to read, stop reading and move on to something else. No one is requiring you to read anything. I think as long posters are being civil and respectful, there shouldn’t be parameters imposed on their expression of facts and opinions.

NKU's upset of Wright State tonight likely keeps us out of the top 4. But IUPUI edged Youngstown State in Youngstown and that likely will make us 5th.

FWIW, with Friday’s win over RMU and CSU getting upset by PFW, the Titans are now the second highest ranked Horizon team in KenPom (at 158). WSU is the top rated team in the conference at 63. The Vikings are now ranked 166. NKU is at 196.

It was meant as a criticism of the HL for being sloppy, and I think you read more into the remark which of course you are free to do. My advice when encountering something you find boring to read, stop reading and move on to something else. No one is requiring you to read anything. Guess it's a good thing I didn't mention in the Cureton thread that the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article referred to us as "Detroit-Mercy", hyphen included.

If you are right--and I think you are--that a win today will leave us with the #5 seed, that means we will play Robert Morris (a third straight time) in the first round. A loss today could drop us to 6th or 7th seed.

I agree, although I don’t like the idea of playing RMU 3 in a row either. And another thought—if we end up the 5 seed and then win our opening round, we likely face Oakland, which I’m guessing will be the 4 seed after yesterday. But again, this is all stuff for us fans. For the guys on the floor, they just need to focus on winning. I don’t see any team we can’t beat if we stay focused and play good ball.

Yeah, there’s no team in this league I feel we can’t beat. Regardless of home court or not.
Not to say we are the favorite to win the tourney, but we have just as good a chance as anyone else. Which is a vast improvement from the past four seasons. Another thing, I feel we have the deepest roster in the league. A hell of a lot of talent on our bench. That can make the difference down the stretch.

Our good run of late has been against all teams not named Wright State. They scare me the most as I’m not sure we have an answer for their big men. Alas, play and win the games in front of ya...
