Ouch. This season started out with a lot of optimism based on the games against MSU and Notre Dame, but it feels pretty gloomy right now.

Ouch. This season started out with a lot of optimism based on the games against MSU and Notre Dame, but it feels pretty gloomy right now. Never mind. Heh. But let's not get carried away. We're #200 in NET. In the old RPI we're #253. A 200 rank, let alone 253, would have been unacceptable just a few years ago. We got lots more winnin' to do. All that said, if we can sweep PFW--and let's not count our chickens and all--but if we sweep them, we'll emerge from next weekend in no worse than sole possession of 5th and possibly as high as sole possession of 3rd in the HL.

Will the Titans' split in Cleveland jump us past YSU and OU into a bye? It's an excellent road win, and dramatically pushes our strength of conference schedule up. We're a game up on OU in the standings. They beat Wright State at home but were swept by CSU at home, we beat CSU on the road but were swept by WSU at home. The Horizon seems to think those extra 2 games matter a lot. Their winning 3 of 4 against us should matter, though it's not clear if it does; but their losses to bottom feeders Robert Morris, UIC, and Green Bay--they're 1-5 against those three-should weigh them down.
We're 2 games up on YSU in the standings and beat them twice at their place--but as noted, it's not clear that that last matters. The Penguins beat Wright State on the road, but was swept by CSU in Cleveland. They split with 3rd place Northern Kentucky, whom we avoided.
We've gotta win two next week because RMU will pull down our conference SOS. Next week Oakland plays Milwaukee on the road. YSU plays IUPUI at home.

I am surprised LeCronie hasn't figured out a formula to put IUPUI in first.

Honest question...is any other conference approaching tourney seedings this way, with a double-secret formula that may or may not make any sense?

Honest question...is any other conference approaching tourney seedings this way, with a double-secret formula that may or may not make any sense? I am not aware of any such silliness in any other responsible conference where the tournament seeding of a member school's team would be based upon anything but its finish in the regular season standings. I checked the websites of the A-10, the Summit League and the Sun Belt and could not find anything other than the usual tiebreakers for seeding.
