Real fun article all around. It seems people sleep on Glen Rice because he didn't have the most prolific NBA career, but he was just unreal during the UM title run. In the article it noted this stat which I hadn't realized but is pretty eye popping "48% from beyond the arc in four years at Michigan". Where would the all time Titans starting 5 rank on this list? Maybe around #10 or so? Debuscherre, Haywood, Phillips, Tyler, John Long. Maybe swap in Duerod if we need more backcourt help?

What's interesting to me is that, except for St. Peter's, most of the players on the teams are from post-1980, whereas the Titan team would be dominated by pre-1980 players. We shouldn't get carried away into thinking that the Titans were more of a power than we were--we were never truly top-tier--but we were a player on the national scene.

After the game, Dean Smith made a comment something like, "We had a good game plan for Michigan but Rice just hit practically every shot he took." I remember him being defended well and just hitting everything.

the Basketball Classic has certainly had it's difficulties, but I hope the organizers take to heart some valuable lessons and come back with a better product next season. I think having two "minor" tournaments to go with the NCAA and NIT is a good thing for basketball. Obviously some changes need to be made, and a smaller field would probably be a good idea. Also might be a good idea to start having conversations in late January/early February with teams along the lines of, "If you don't make the NCAA or NIT, would you consider the TBC?" Some kind of TV deal (maybe a network friendly deal with Fox Sports or USA) would help.

What about an all Catholic post season tourney on EWTN? Get some Incarnate Word v. Canisius action.

I think MSG will be under renovation for a couple of years, maybe it won't be available when the NIT plays.

They are talking about Vegas, or perhaps Hinkle Fieldhouse at Butler, which (IMHO) would be a much better venue.

Actually Hinkle who be a great home for the 80 year or so NIT, it's so old school, and within an easy drive for so many basketball "nuts". Just look how well the NCAA play-in games does in Dayton.
