(Same scoreboard as the other board, just with a different sponsor. I'll copy and paste it here during the Commissioner's sabbatical.)
Results from Wednesday, December 6, 2017. As indicated in previous posts, it was another night of upsets.
Toledo 89, Detroit 86. At one point it looked like the Titans had snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, and then the Rockets snatched it right back. Much like the HBU game, the Titans free throw defense gave them a chance in this one, but a fadeaway three pointer at the buzzer ruined the comeback. On to the next one.
In a rarity, the UCLA vs Montana game last night was cancelled due to wildfires. If you've watched some of the footage from Southern California, you can understand why.
It was a night of mixed results for the Horizon, and it offered up reason to be optimistic about the Titans once HL play starts. The conference just isn't good this year.
East Tenn State 84, NKU 71. ETSU visits Calihan on December 19. They look like a pretty good team so far. NKU is 6-3, ETSU 5-3.
Eastern Michigan 95, Oakland 89. Something just isn't right with Oakland this year. Losing to EMU on the road isn't a terrible loss, as the Eagles are talented, but the Grizzlies seem to be playing below expectations so far this season. Even a win over MSU might not be enough to get them an at large bid if they don't win the conference tournament. James Thompson of EMU had a monster game shooting 11 for 11 from the floor and logging a double double.
Western Michigan 78, Cleveland State 67. The Vikings lose to the next Titan opponent and fall to 2-6. The MAC dominance over the HL on this night was complete.
SIU-Edwardsville 82, IUPUI 81. SIUE came into the game 1-6 and beat the Jags at IUPUI. Bad loss for the Jags and for the league.
Green Bay 59, Eastern Illinois 57. They won, but the Packers, er, the Phoenix, trailed at home by 13 at the half to a team that was 0-5 on the road coming into last night's action. Ugh.
UIC 76, Wisconsin Parkside 48. Dikembe Dixson finally had a good game with 17 points.
Top 25
#2 Kansas lost to Washington in a game at Kansas City, 74-65. One of those inexplicable college basketball games. Look for Michigan State to move into that number two spot and hold it for a while, barring some unexpected loss.
# 5 Florida dropped a home game to our former conference mate Loyola-Chicago, 65-59. The Ramblers are 9-1 now. I will go with this as mid major win of the day.
#11 North Carolina 104, Western Carolina 61.
#13 Xavier (another former conference mate) 96, Kent State 70. No letdown for the Musketeers after their emotional win over Cincinnati. (That Xavier/Cincy rivalry is one of the best rivalries in all of sports. Doesn't get the attention it deserves. Both coaches are Cincinnati natives who played basketball at rival high schools.)
Other games of interest: Virginia Tech 95, Radford 68. VT's only loss is that inexplicable game against St. Louis.
Florida State 96, Loyola-MD 71. No letdown for the Seminoles after their win over rival Florida.
Temple 59, Wisconsin 55. The Badgers look bad this this season.
Providence 77, Brown 72. The Friars trailed by 12 at the half before rallying in regulation and closing the deal in overtime.
Akron 83, Fort Wayne 79.
Harvard 47, Fordham 45. Harvard is only 4-6 this season, despite a talented roster (at least on paper). Still figuring things out apparently.
DePaul 85, Central Connecticut 57. Demons reach .500 on the season.
St. Louis 74, Southern Illinois 69.
Middle Tennessee State 66, Vanderbilt 63. On most days, this would be a good candidate for mid major win of the day.
Idaho 91, Washington State 64. On most days, this would be a good candidate for mid major win of the day.
Central Arkansas 96, California 69. On most days, this would be a good candidate for mid major win of the day.
Wofford 63, Georgia Tech 60. On most days, this would be a good candidate for mid major win of the day.

Results from December 7, 2017. Only one top twenty five game last night, and a light slate overall.
#21 Purdue 80, Valpo 50. The Boilermakes exploded in the last eight minutes of the first half and never were threatened after that. Maryland 87, Ohio 62. Rutgers 73, NJIT 64 Iowa State 84, Iowa 78. In the battle of the Children of the Corn, the Big 12 comes out on top. The Hawkeyes dropped their fourth in a row. Georgetown 81, Howard 67. The Hoyas move to 7-0 under new coach Patrick Ewing, against a soft schedule. San Francisco 81, Eastern Washington 71. Mid Major win of the Day: Drexel 72, LaSalle 70. CAA over the A-10.

Results from December 8, 2017. Light schedule, no HL teams in action.
#16 Arizona State 82, St. John's 70. The Sun Devils are 8-0 and off to their best start since 1980-81. Oklahoma 85, #25 USC 83. Sooners hold off a late USC rally in Los Angeles in a game that will be worth remembering on Selection Sunday. Remember the name Trae Young. #20 TCU 84, #22 Nevada 80. A good win for TCU and Jamie Dixon.
Mid Major win of the day is actually the D2 win of the day. D2 South Nazarene 68, Oral Roberts 60.

Results from December 9 2017. Busy day in college basketball, rough day for the HL.
WMU 87, Detroit 79. Close, but not quite over the hump for the Titans. Game is discussed in detail elsewhere on the board. Butler 95, Youngstown State 67. Coach Jordan getting payback from last season. Wright State 63, Kent State 54. The Raiders are 6-4. Oakland 82, Chicago State 50. Jalen Hayes with 30 and 10 for the Grizz. DePaul 65, UIC 55. The Flames kept it closer than the score indicates. Western Illinois 90, Milwaukee 69. Didn't expect that margin. Missouri 100, Green Bay 77.
Other games of interest: Michigan State 88, Southern Utah 63. Michigan 78, UCLA 69. The Bruins choked this game away in Ann Arbor. They had a 15 point second half lead, blew it in regulation, and folded like a cheap card table in OT. Steve Alford was brutally outcoached and UCLA is missing their suspended players. (Except for Ball, who actually wasn't that good.) Michigan looked better than it has for most of the non-conference season. Marquette 82, Wisconsin 63. Big win for Al McGuire's former team in Madison. The Badgers aren't good this year. Louisville 71, Indiana 62. Creighton 75, Nebraska 65. Says a lot about Creighton's program that this isn't considered an upset. UNLV 89, Illinois 82. One of my favorite hypothetical match ups is the 1990 UNLV team (Larry Johnson, Anderson Hunt, Stacey Augmon) vs the 1989 Illinois squad (Battle, Anderson, Liberty). This wasn't it. CMU 74, Tenn Tech 69. Ball State 71, Valpo 70. Eastern Michigan 80, Central State 65. Marshall 93, Toledo 87.
Top Twenty Five: Boston College 89, #1 Duke 84. Duke is talented but young. #5 Florida 66, #16 Cincinnati 60. Good bounceback win for the Gators, who had lost three in a row. #6 Wichita State 78, OK State 66. #7 Texas A&M 73, Prairie View 53. #8 Kentucky 93. Monmouth 76. #9 Notre Dame 92, Delaware 68. #13 Xavier 96, Colorado 69. Arkansas 95, #14 Minnesota 79. The Gophers have lost 3 of 4. #18 West Virginia 69, Pittsburgh 60. #19 Seton Hall 90, VCU 67. #23 Baylor 105, Randall 82. #24 Tennessee 81, Lipscomb 71.
A few others: Memphis 90, Bryant 72 . Tubby Smith basically starting over from scratch in year two with Memphis. Memphis is 6-2. Syracuse 72, Colgate 58 UConn 72, Coppin State 59. Georgetown 83, NC A&T 74 UMass 72, Providence 63. Loyola Chicago 80, Norfolk State 52. Ramblers are 10-1. Houston 77, St. Louis 58. Billikens lose again at home. UT San Antonio 87, Houston Baptist 71 St. Mary's 97, Seattle 73 Arizona 88, Alabama 82
Mid Major Win of the Day: Middle Tennessee 77, Ole Miss 58.

Results from December 10, 2017. The HL goes 2-1 tonight.
Purdue 86, IUPUI 61. Expected. Purdue playing much better since some early struggles. Jags are 2-6, 0-5 on the road. Cleveland State 89, Notre Dame...College 56. Also expected. Northern Kentucky 91, Eastern Kentucky 63. Close early, but NKU dominated the second half.
Top 25 #16 Arizona State 95, #2 Kansas 85. Two losses in a row for Kansas. Arizona State looks better than the rest of the PAC 12 right now. #4 Villanova 77, LaSalle 68. Nova had a tough time with their Big Five rival. However, the Cats have a shot at being ranked number one in the next top 25 poll. MSU has better wins, but also has a loss. And I can't see Duke being ranked behind MSU when both have one loss and Duke won head to head. I see it going Nova, Duke, Michigan State in the top 3. #12 Gonzaga 97, Washington 70. Washington comes back to Earth after their win over Kansas.
Other games of interest: Iowa 91, Southern 60 LSU 97, UNC Wilmington 84 Iowa State 78, Alcorn State 58 Florida State 72, Tulane 53. Keep an eye on the Seminoles. Navy 73, Columbia 68. Midshipmen still feeling bad about the loss to Army in football, though. Chattanooga 64, Charlotte 50 Ohio 89, Western Kentucky 84 Virginia Tech 93, Maryland Eastern Shore 40. Hokies are 9-1. Southern Miss 89, Troy 71 Oral Roberts 73, Missouri State 66

Results from December 11, 2017. Not much action, but a few games of note.
Northwestern 96, Chicago State 31. The Wildcats aren't the top twenty team that some predicted this season, but they took it out on CSU. Louisville 102, Bryant 59. Minnesota 68, Drake 67. Drake came thisclose to pulling off the upset, and had the lead for most of the game. DePaul 83, Alabama A&M 89. Demons move to 6-4 and has improved the talent level, but still seem behind most of the Big East teams. Grand Canyon 64, NC Central 59. Oregon 74, Texas Southern 68. TSU falls to 0-9, with all of their games played on the road against higher caliber clubs. Their schedule this season: Gonzaga, Washington State (lost by two), Ohio State, Syracuse, Kansas, Clemson (lost by seven), Oakland (lost by ten) and Toledo (lost by two). Coach Mike Davis loads up on buy games to toughen the team and make money. In his five years at Texas Southern, he has an .844 conference winning percentage, three trips to the NCAA tournament, and one trip to the NIT. His first year there, the team finished in first place in the conference, but was on probation and couldn't go to the postseason.

Results from December 12, 2017.
Indiana State 85, Green Bay 63. Only one HL game last night, and it wasn't good for the league. GB and and Larry Bird's school were actually tied at the half, 32-32, but the second half was all Sycamores.
Top Twenty Five. #15 Seton Hall 84, St. Peter's 61. The Hall looks pretty good this year. #25 Cincinnati 65, Mississippi State 50. No one can screw up your offense like the Bear Cat defense.
Other games of interest: Boston College 81, Columbia 66. No let down for BC after their upset win over Duke. Maryland 76, Catholic 59. I didn't see this game, but I heard that the Terps opponent was actually a single Catholic dude. Rutgers 75, Fordham 53 Army 76, St. Francis (Brooklyn) 64 Iona 83, Yale 67 St. Louis 69, Murray State 55. Past and future Titan opponents square off. Murray State's five game winning streak ended. The alma mater of Popeye Jones visits the Titans on December 22. Michigan 59, Texas 52. The 'Horns played without their leading scorer who is out several weeks with an injury discovered yesterday, but it was still a good win for the Wolverines. Memphis 67, Albany 58. Looking at it objectively, I might have predicted this one going the other way. Albany came in 10-1 and Memphis is still trying to jell after returning only two players from last season's team. Memphis had a 33-5 edge in bench points. Oregon State 70, Jacksonville State 69. San Diego 69, Colorado 59. Mid Major win of the Day.
I apologize in advance for any typos.

Results from December 13, 2017. Rough night for the Horizon.
Belmont 82, Milwaukee 63. The Panthers drop to 6-5 despite 20 points from Jeremiah Bell.
Top Twenty Five: #1 Villanova 87, Temple 67. Nova won each of their Big Five games by at least twenty points. #9 Texas A&M 113, Savannah State 66. #24 Texas Tech 82, Kennesaw State 53.
Other games of interest: Illinois 92, Longwood 45 Wisconsin 81, Western Kentucky 80. Reports indicate the game ended on a very controversial call. Ole Miss 82, Sam Houston State 69 Duquesne 73, Mississippi Valley State 49. Per ESPN, MVSU is one of seven teams still winless. SMU 79, New Orleans 66 Bradley 86, Little Rock 46. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is another school joining the trend of simplifying their athletic brand name to emphasize their City of location, i.e. Milwaukee, Fort Wayne, etc. LSU 80, Houston 77 Boise State 85, Grand Canyon 80. Non-profit beats For-profit. Oregon 95, Portland State 84 Seattle 88, St. Martin's 72. Seattle is 7-5. No mid major had a win worthy of mid major win of the day.

Scores from December 14, 2017. No Horizon League teams were in action.
Top 25. #21 Baylor 99, Texas Southern 68. TSU continues their march through the gauntlet, but the big story from this game was on the Baylor side. Senior center Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. is a native of Sudan who had not seen his family in four years. On Thursday, his parents were finally able to come to see him. They arrived at the arena 45 minutes before tip off and watched Jo score 18 points, grab five rebounds, and block 2 shots in the Bears win. Even better, Jo graduates this weekend, and his parents will be in attendance. I love that story.
Other games of interest. South Florida 83, Bethune Cookman 63. Northwestern 84, Valpo 50. The HL is so bad this year, even former league teams are struggling. Tulsa 77, Prairie View A&M 73. Mr. T's alma mater gave it a good shot but fell short of what would have been the mid major win of the day. South Dakota 90, Northern Arizona 77 USC 82, Santa Clara 59. The Trojans, who were ranked at one point, finally get a win after dropping three straight.

Stanford 75, Denver 62. Colorado 112, South Dakota State 103 in OT. Near miss for Mid Major Win of the Day. San Francisco 74, UC Davis 61. Houston Baptist 100, Barclay College 65. HBU is 4-7 Creighton 87, Maryland Eastern Shore 36. Creighton is 8-2 and looking pretty good. North Carolina A&T 64, Tennessee State 54 Sam Houston State 57, Little Rock 55

Scores from December 16, 2017. Lots of games, and some basketball related heartbreaks for me.
Michigan 90, Detroit 58: Ugly, ugly game. Hard to tell what early stat was most depressing. 11 Detroit turnovers with seven minutes to go in the first half. Five total Detroit field goals in the first half. 54-19 halftime score. Pick from one of those or one of several others. The Titans looked overmatched physically, which was expected, and not prepared, which perhaps I should start to expect. Keep in mind that Wagner didn't play for Michigan, and I think coach JB eased off the gas in the second half.
Most of the HL played well yesterday.
Michigan State 86, Oakland 73. As Coach Kampe said, there are no moral victories, but the Grizz played well against the number two team in the country. Cassius Winston, who had a good relationship with the previous Titan coaching staff, but was still never going to go anywhere but high major, led the Spartans with 19 points. Somewhere along the line, he has developed into a very good three point shooter. Kendrick Nunn led the Grizz with 32, despite playing on a gimpy ankle. With Hayes back and Nunn recovering, Oakland might be rounding into form for the HL season. Milwaukee 73, Loyola Chicago 56. Surprising win for Milwaukee, made even more impressive by the margin. Loyola walked in 10-1, with a win over Florida, and Milwaukee handled them pretty easily, taking a 17 point half time lead. Excellent win for the HL. Wright State 77, Toledo 69. We know what Toledo is capable of. Credit to the Raiders for traveling to the Glass City and picking up the road win. Washington State 72, IUPUI 59. The Jags trailed by only six at the half on the road. Green Bay 86, Wisconsin Parkside 50.
Other games of note: Oklahoma 91, #3 Wichita State 83. Home game for the Shockers, bit upset win for the Sooners. Remember the name Trae Young. #9 Kentucky 93, Virginia Tech 86. The Hokies were up six at the half, but UK came back strong. Very entertaining game to watch. #10 Xavier 68, East Tennessee State 66. This game will sting ETSU for awhile. They were up 12 at the half. The question is, will they still be feeling the effects of the loss when they visit Calihan Hall on Tuesday. Rutgers 71, #15 Seton Hall 65. Big upset for Rutgers. Their program is showing some real life this year, and in a down year for the Big Ten, they might make some noise. Purdue 82, Butler 67. The Bulldogs fall to 8-3. Indiana 80, #18 Notre Dame 77. This game, and the Purdue/Butler game, were part of a double header in Indianapolis, the Crossroads Classic. #25 Cincinnati 77, UCLA 63. Louisville 81, Memphis 72. In a rebuilding year for Memphis, they played a good game against a better Cardinal team. The game was tied at the half and close until one of the Memphis starting forwards left with an injury early in the second half and couldn't return. My heart was hurting over this one. Syracuse 86, Georgetown 79. The Hoyas blew a 13 point lead in the second half and lost in OT. Syracuse is 9-1, Georgetown is 8-1. More basketball heartbreak for me. Stephen F. Austin 83, LSU 82. Mr. Austin must be quite a player. Need to get him on the same team as that Catholic dude. Northwestern 62, DePaul 60. Another part of my basketball heartbreak on Saturday. Some of you (especially Denny Crane and Moose) know how much I like DePaul. Texas 75, Louisiana Tech 60. Oregon State 63, St. Louis 60. St. Louis falls to 5-6. Fort Wayne 88, Stetson 84. Fort Wayne moves to 7-5. Seattle 89, Portland 76. Seattle is 8-5. Murray State 100, Marist 63. Uh oh. Southern Utah 86, Central Michigan 80. Belmont 79, Pepperdine 62. UMass 72, Georgia 62. Detroit native Yante Maten scored 20 points and had nine rebounds for Georgia. Mike Edwards, a Michiganian that the Titans could have landed had Georgia not come in late with that offer, scored eight points and had three rebounds for the Bulldogs. Oral Roberts 83, Florida Gulf Coast (Dunk City) 64. Illinois State 101, Ole Miss 97. Evansville 78, Austin Peay 74. Temple 63, Drexel 60. Dayton 88, Georgia State 83. Eastern Michigan 85, Long Beach State 80. Good road win for the Eagles, who are 8-2. New Mexico State 74, Illinois 69. The Illini trailed big early, fought back to take the lead, and then NMSU took over down the stretch for a big win on the road. Mid Major Win of the Day: UNC Greensboro over North Carolina State. Today was a day with several worth contenders for the honor, but after careful consideration (I spent about three seconds thinking about it) I'll go with this one, as UNC-G went into Jim Valvano territory and upset the Wolfpack. I'm still mad at NC State for upsetting one of my favorite teams in the 1983 NCAA championship. Ask anyone; I can hold a grudge forever.
Personal high note for the scoreboard: My nine year old niece Jaida, who some of you have met at Titan games, is playing basketball and her team won yesterday and today. UD Baller, she's a point guard, too. :-)
Sobering thought to close this entry. The Titans next two games are against ETSU, which led #10 Xavier by 22 in the second half in Cincinnati before fading late, and 7-2 Murray State, who beat D1 Marist by 37 points.

Northern Kentucky was the only HL team in action and dropped a road game to a pretty good UMBC team by the score of 76-75. The Norse are 7-4.
Other games of interest: #5 Arizona State 76, Vanderbilt 64. The Commodores (Not Lionel Richie, Walter King, etc.) are 3-7 this season under Bryce Drew. #7 North Carolina 78, #20 Tennessee 73. Carolina is 10-1. #21 Baylor 118, Savannah State 86 Duquesne 74, NC A&T 58. We stole Duquesne's logo, but they are having the better season. Boston College 84, Central Connecticut 65. BC is having a pretty good season. 9-3 and a win over Duke. Army 79, Air Force 54. I should have made a bet on this game with a cute woman I know who is an Air Force veteran. Providence 62, Stony Brook 60. The Friars are 8-3, but something is not quite right with them. Penn State 72, George Mason 54. Jaire Grayer, son of Flint basketball legend Jeff Grayer, scored 13 points and had nine rebounds for George Mason. Houston 92, Prairie View A&M 72 St. John's 69, Iona 59 LaSalle 95, Mercer 85
