HORIZON LEAGUE Navy 80, Youngstown State 67. Rough loss for YSU who had been playing well. They were actually favored in this game. Iowa State 68, Milwaukee 53 Utah Valley 79, Green Bay 55. The Phoenix still winless.
LOCAL TEAMS #20 Michigan 70, Ohio 66 (OT). OU had the lead for a good chunk of the game and made an incredible play in the final seconds to put it into overtime. Georgia Southern 63, Western Michigan 57. Lamar Norman stays hot with 23 points but didn't get much help.
OTHER GAMES OF INTEREST #1 North Carolina 80, James Madison 64 #2 Gonzaga 88, #4 Kentucky 72. Dominant performance by GU. #3 Houston 66, Oregon 56. Good road win for the Cougars. #5 Baylor 80, #8 UCLA 75. UCLA's second loss in a row. #12 Indiana 86, Miami (OH)66 Tarleton 70, Boston College 54. Yeah, that BC game was an opportunity lost. Seton Hall 88, Wagner 44 St. Louis 76, Providence 73 Oklahoma State 82, DePaul 78
MID MAJOR WIN OF THE DAY Charleston 77, Virginia Tech 75. Big win for Charleston, not just because they beat a favored high major, but because it was the championship of Charleston Classic, played in Downtown Charleston. You want a good goal for the Titans program? How about winning the Motor City Classic at Little Caesar's Arena beating a team like Iowa in the finals?

MID MAJOR WIN OF THE DAY Texas State 59, California 55. It's actually starting to feel like I am picking on the PAC 12. Cal is really bad, but they were favored in this one, and it was a buy game.

#9 Arkanas 80, Louisville 54. UL is bad. Pervis Ellison, Jerry Eaves, and Wiley Brown aren't walking through the door. It's a sorry state of affairs. I'd bet they'd give their right ear for a James Brewer to walk through the door... let alone a LaBradford Smith. 😁

Louisville scored a total of 13 points in the first half against Texas Tech.

Scores for November 22, 2022.
HORIZON LEAGUE Purdue Fort Wayne 74, EMU 67. Good win for Fort Wayne. Bad loss for Eastern. UT-Arlington 60, Northern Kentucky 56 Wright State UC Riverside
LOCAL TEAMS East Carolina 86, Toledo 74. Toledo was a big 11.5 point favorite in this game. I'm surprised by the point spread and the final margin.
OTHER GAMES OF INTEREST #13 Auburn 85, Bradley 64 #10 Creighton 90, #9, Arkansas 87 #14 Arizona 87, #17 San Diego State 70 #24 Texas Tech 70, Louisville 38. Hard times for Louisville. Three one point losses in a row followed by a couple of blowouts.
St. John's 76, Syracuse 69 (OT) Throwback battle to the days of Mark Jackson vs Pearl Washington. Ohio State 81, Cincinnati 53. Buckeye State Battle. In past years, these would be the two best teams in the state, but I think this year that might be Dayton. Tulane 78, Rhode Island 75 Grand Canyon 69, Northern Iowa 67 Western Kentucky 78, Illinois Statae 66 LSU 73, Akron 58 San Francisco 67, Wichita State 63. The Dons with six wins already. Notre Dame 82, Bowling Green 66
MID MAJOR WIN OF THE DAY Mount St. Mary's 69, Pacific 65. Not a lot of games to choose from, so let's give it to The Mount for traveling to Pacific and getting the win as a road underdog.

Scores for November 22, 2022. HORIZON LEAGUE Purdue Fort Wayne 74, EMU 67. Good win for Fort Wayne. Bad loss for Eastern. UT-Arlington 60, Northern Kentucky 56 Wright State UC Riverside Wright State fell to Riverside 70-65. Riverside is 4-2, with its losses to Creighton and Colorado on the road, and win over Loyola Marymount on the road. Hardly a disgrace for the Raiders to lose this road game, but it's the kind of game the HL needs to win if it's ever to recover as a conference and avoid perpetual 15/16 seed lines.

Had really bought into the notion Eastern with Bates on the floor and Heath at the helm would be decent. 1-5 is surprising. Their record takes the gloss off of Grizzlies’ win a few nights back. That hurts the Horizon too I think. O well

EMU looked so good against the U of M, 1-5 start is really a "shock". Not really a good start for Stan Heath. I really thought a good year with a big star could put Heath back in big-time.

Scores for November 23, 2022.
Terry Tyler 70, Cornbread Maxwell 49. One of the nicest wins Detroit has had in awhile. AD led the way. Charlotte fall to 4-2 and will be looking for payback later this season.
HORIZON LEAGUE Cleveland State 77, Chicago State 63. Chicago State couldn't get their third win, but were tied at the half. St. Thomas 76, Milwaukee 72. One of those bad losses for the league. Southern Miss 70, Fort Wayne 58 Wright State 87, Webber State 65 Denver 86, IUPUI Toledo 82, Northern Kentucky 69
LOCAL TEAMS Winthrop 101, EMU 87. Surprised by EMU's lack of defense. CMU 82, Cal State-Northridge 66. 18 and 6 for point guard Kevin Miller. CMU has got a really strong three guard rotation. Michigan 78, Jackson State 68
OTHER GAMES OF INTEREST #3 Kansas 80, NC State 74 Ohio State 80, #21 Texas Tech 73. The Buckeyes took advantage of the opportunity. #7 Baylor 89, McNeese State 60 #9 Arkansas 78, #17 San Diego State 74 (OT). If the Aztecs are on the bubble or worried about seeding this year, they will look back on this game. SDSU was up 4 with 13 seconds to go when one of the Aztecs intentionally and inexplicably fouled a Razorback who was dribbling the ball with his back to the basket five feet past the three point line. Arkansas made both free throws and after the inbound pass, the same SDSU player dribbled into a trap, fell down and lost the ball. Arkansas got a put back at the buzzer on the ensuing possession to put the game in overtime and took control there.
#13 Auburn 43, Northwestern 42. Not a halftime score. Teams combined to go 7-45 from three point range. Analytics!! #11 Indiana 87, Arkansas Little Rock 68 #14 Arizona 81, #10 Creighton 79 #15 Kentucky 96, North Florida 56 #22 Tennessee 71, Butler 45
Marquette 84, Georgia Tech 60. Impressive win for Marquette. Providence 71, Merrimack 57 Cincinnati 81, Louisville 62 Kansas State 71, LSU 69 Western Kentucky 71, Tulane 65 Sam Houston 80, South Dakota 49. Sam Houston is 6-0. Samford 79, Valpo 49 Nevada 62, Akron 58 USC 82, BYU 76 High Point 77, Tennessee State 72. Good mid/low major match up as both teams came in 4-1. Charleston 74, Kent State 72. No let down for Charleston after winning that Charleston-based tourney. UCF 76, Evansville 56 Missouri 89, Coastal Carolina 61 Wisconsin 43, Dayton 42. Not a halftime score. Dayton took 27 threes out of their 53 total shots and hit less than 15% of those attempts. Analytics!!
MID MAJOR WIN OF THE DAY American University 74, Georgetown 70. The Hoyas had a double figure lead early. Well, at least the Hoya administration no longer has to has to complain about the Hoyas only making the second round of the NCAA tournament like they did under John Thompson the Third.

What to Watch For November 24, 2022. Happy Thanksgiving! There are some good match ups on in between football and food.
11:00 AM ESPN Wisconsin vs #4 Kansas 11:00 AM ESPN2 Florida State vs Sienna. Usually wouldn't consider this a good one to watch, but it's got MMWOTD potential. 1:30 PM ESPN2 #22 Tennessee vs USC. Opportunity to get some respect for the PAC 12. 3:30 PM ESPN2 Iowa State vs Villanova 8:00 PM ESPN2 #20 UConn vs Oregon 10:30 PM #18 Wimp Sanderson vs #12 Jud Heathcote. Alabama's "shoot as many threes as possible" offense meets Michigan State's "tough defense, transition, and rebounding" approach. UA's top four scorers have taken more threes than twos.
