I’m hearing that unless a big donor steps up to cover the 80-100k required, playing in the CBI is not a reality. Since there is only a one-week window, there is no time to make a formal push to find a donor. Surely, some of the old timer boomers on this message board just have that kind of scratch in their kitchen junk drawers. Cough it up, boomers!

I think if this team wants to play more games then it will be just one more really stupid decision if the U does not send them. They will get a return on their investment if the team wins and advances as well as the advertising for years when Davis sets the record which is now a sure thing. Could end up being the best $ spent in a long time a lot more important than fixing up the Titan Club but here we are looking for misspent cash to do something positive. Come on new Administration put your $ and back up your words. Plus look at the signal we are sending to future recruits!

Agreed, this morning on Sirius, college sports # 84, did a fairly long piece about Detroit Mercy actively shopping a postseason game so AD can break the record. This is the first time ever I heard anybody talk about UDM on that station.

I don’t think we need a donor to step up and actually give 80K. If one or two serious donors simply call and say they will NOT give financially ever again if we don’t play, that would force the school’s hand.

Learn how to help your potential clients (Administration) convince themselves. We are most persuasive when we allow others to persuade themselves. It’s a skill. You'll will have more success and close the deal.

Not only breaking Pistol Pete’s record but establishing a new record that will be even harder to break and might last for many years. Thus giving UD multiple years of benefits.

I think Hype is right. It’s not just the entry fee. You have to take a small army for a week to Florida. Does this team really deserve that? Nope.

The budget should not be completely bare unless the department or the university immediately snatched the unspent travel allocations for Indianapolis and an NCAA game faster than Cohill began taunting Antoine in the handshake line. If we could fly to Ft Myers last March to play FGCU, we can fly to Daytona this year to play in the CBI if we are selected and not being used by the CBI to drum up interest in its selection process.

If this University isn't willing or able to spend the money for entrance and travel costs to the CBI, especially in these particular circumstances, maybe we should just admit that we don't have the will or ability to maximize the potential of the D1 basketball program. There were probably three seasons under McCallum when we could have played in that kind of tournament, but someone decided it wasn't worth it. Teams like Grand Canyon and San Francisco invested in the CBI and CIT on their way to building NCAA tournament teams.
Then again, we struggle for years with things like the sound system at Calihan, and our ticket buying system fails right before the last home game, so maybe my expectations are just too high.

I noticed this Tweet from the CBI's official account the day before yesterday, which led me to think they'd certainly welcome the Titans into the tournament. Itwould be a shame if we didn't take advantage of the opportunity.

I have not heard that the university is unwilling to spend the money for us to play in the CBI if we are invited. We would not need to take any more of an army there than we have taken to any other road game. As to deserving, we are as deserving as some recent mid-major teams with 13-20 and 14-19 regular season records that have played in the CBI.
