Former Titan recruit & Pershing star Martez Walker was suspended by Texas for misdemeanor assault. It involves a woman. I saw that, TJ. That is bad. Per the article below, it appears the alleged victim is a woman, reportedly his girlfriend. If that's true, I expect he will be kicked out of school. Given the recent Ray Rice situation, an incident like this is going to dealt with harshly. Just a bad situation all the way around. www.statesman.com/weblogs/bevo-beat/2014/sep/12/texas-coach-rick-barnes-suspends-martez-walker-aft/

Well, aren't we all lucky that "Mellonhead" - who knew how accurate a nickname that was - shunned the Titans? There but for the grace of God...

Well, aren't we all lucky that "Mellonhead" - who knew how accurate a nickname that was - shunned the Titans? There but for the grace of God... What a horrible situation. I doubt he'll ever play for Texas again. And beyond basketball, hopefully he gets his life together. Just dumb. Of course, the other part of that question is, had he stayed local, would his family and friends been able to provide some guidance and support to keep him from messing up so bad. We'll never know.

Update on Martez Walker. What a shame. He has certainly thrown his life off track. Hopefully, he can get it back together. It's a shame to see anyone waste the opportunity he has.

Perhaps you may recall a comment I posted several months ago on the DetroitTitansHoops board. Isaiah was in the back seat of a vehicle when a couple of his "homies" decided to rob a convenience store. He spent several weeks in a Texas jail and lost his scholarship offer at Seton Hall. He was 18 years old and had no prior record so he was fortunate enough to receive probation. He signed a LOI with Alcorn State a few months ago. And Alcorn State was very excited to get him, according to this. Looks like they actually garnered a nice class. I wonder if Hill was on the Titans radar at all. www.alcornsports.com/news/2013/4/17/MBB_0417132448.aspxIndy, just out of curiosity, whatever happened to Isaiah Hill? Doesn't look like he played for Alcorn State last year, and the season previews make no mention of him. Seems like he is too talented a kid to remain out in limbo.

There was speculation last year that we were looking at this guy as a potential transfer. At the time, Kirky pointed out some concerns about his attitude and his ability to get along with at least one current Titan. Looks like the concerns were legitimate. Fredrick Edmonds was a kid we recruited from Lansing who signed with Western Kentucky. He didn't qualify and ended up at a Juco in Idaho. He has now re-committed to Western Kentucky for the class of '15. Sometimes you can keep 'em. And sometimes you can't. Less than two weeks before signing, he has reopened his recruitment according to Alex Kline's Recruit Scoop. I'd still be interested in the kid except that we're full.

Thanks, TJ.
I agree about Paris. We'll see him ranked higher on that list in the future.

That's a good list of guards from 2013.

We didn't have a 2011 recruiting thread so I figured I'd place it here, under the Steve Bell re-ranks the class of 2013. Here's 2011, featuring CB and Kearney (one time possible Titan transfer Percy Gibson, and current Titan Pat Onwenu didn't make the cut):

Thanks for posting those lists, TJ. It's always interesting to look back on classes like that. The Ohio State guys on the list are worth noting. Amir Williams averaged eight points and six rebounds per game last year, so it's not like he's been a total bust, but he's certainly not what was expected. Based on basketball ability alone, Trey McDonald appears to be a young man who should have gone the mid major route. He was a good high school player, but not a great one. I give him credit for sticking it out at OSU if he is happy there, however. Just seems like he really would have been a good HL or MAC player.
Not a big thing, but does Ryan Sabin averaging 14 ppg at Grand Valley State rank him over CB's 7 points per game at U of D? I haven't seen Sabin play, but that seems to put a high value on D2 ball.
The other thing that caught my eye was the note that Jalen Reynolds has first round pro potential. My first thought was that I didn't see that in the games I saw him play last season, but then I had to remind myself that today's NBA is not the NBA I came to love in the 80s. When it comes to drafting, lots of NBA teams seem to favor "potential" over actual "production".
