Fredrick Edmonds was a kid we recruited from Lansing who signed with Western Kentucky. He didn't qualify and ended up at a Juco in Idaho. He has now re-committed to Western Kentucky for the class of '15. Sometimes you can keep 'em. And sometimes you can't. Less than two weeks before signing, he has reopened his recruitment according to Alex Kline's Recruit Scoop. I'd still be interested in the kid except that we're full. And sometimes you can...again. From the twittersphere: Brad Winton @jucorecruiting 1m1 minute ago Fredrick Edmond has announced that he is signing with Western Kentucky. Recently de-committed from WKU and was considering USC among others

"And this year's Novian Cherry Award for public indecision in recruiting goes to..."
Edmond has now committed to WKU 3 times. Seems like the right spot for him, and a good match for his level of play.
I guess this is encouraging given the Titans recent situation Lacey James.

Man, we should totally have a Novian Cherry Award every year. There are always a few worthy nominees.
That Titan situation with James sounded unusually amicable. Hopefully no bridges were burned on either side.

Stephen Spurlock, a one time Titan target for the class of 2013 before he went the prep school route, played two minutes and went scoreless for Maryland Eastern Shore in their blowout loss to Virginia Tech.
AJ West shot only 1-6 from the floor in 28 minutes for Nevada against Cal Poly, but he went 4-6 from the line and had eight rebounds and six blocked shots.

Bass commits to Titans, taking our last scholarship and completing the recruiting class of 2013: 1. Patrick Onwenu, 6-8 PF Southfield via Highland CC. 2. Jared Williams, 6-2 PG Danville, VA. 3. Matthew Grant , 6-2 SG Los Angeles 4. Patrick Ackerman, 6-10 C Penn St. transfer 5. Paris Bass, 6-8 SF, Birmingham Nice. I see at least four eventual starters in that group. Bass coming on board raises that class a full grade, in my opinion. Bass won his second HL Freshman of the Week award. He is certainly living up to the potential that made him TJ's favorite member of the class. Revisiting the quoted posts above, all five of those players, not the four I predicted, have already started games for the Titans. That's a good haul. www.detroittitans.com/news/2014/12/1/MBB_1201143400.aspx

Taking a quick look at some of our targets from the class of 2013 who got away.
1. Shaq McKissic: We could have used him last year and this year, although having him this year would probably mean we don't have Kearney. Shaq in the Box is averaging 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists per game for Arizona State.
2. AJ West: This is the guy who would have made a big difference last season and this season for the Titans. After a solid junior year at Nevada he is averaging 12 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks in 26 minutes per game as a senior. At 6-9, 230, he'd be the starting center for two years running. Would have been nice to see him paired with NJ at times last year. Those two would have a no "lay ups" rule on defense. AJ remains the "one who got away" in my mind.
3. Martez Walker: Transferred to Oakland after his arrest and expulsion in Texas. In limbo as he waits for his criminal case to be resolved.
4. Sai Tumala: If Sai was looking for an opportunity for playing time and a chance to contribute, he made the wrong choice to join Arizona State. It didn't seem like a bad choice at the time, but Arizona State had some good forwards on the roster already and just recruited right over him in the class of 2014. Sai has played in eight games this year, for a total of 42 minutes, after playing 80 total minutes as a sophomore last season. His senior year doesn't seem to hold the promise of a greater opportunity, as most of the guys he is sitting behind are underclassmen, also. I believe Sai would have contributed to the Titans, particularly given the fact that he had three years of eligibility once he left JUCO. That college choice for JUCO players is so critical.
5. Antonio Jennifer: Antonio was a well regarded 2013 JUCO recruit who ended up having to move to the class of 2014 for academic reasons. He ended up at St. Francis of Brooklyn. He is averaging five points and four rebounds in 12 minutes per game for the Terriers.

AJ West had the kind of game recently that makes me wish more than ever he had committed to the Titans. On Tuesday, he scored 18 points and grabbed 19 rebounds, while blocking three shots and getting two assists. He shot 6-6 from the floor and 6-6 from the free throw line. That game followed a 12 point, 17 rebound, 5 block performance on Saturday. On the season he is averaging 13, 11, and 3, while shooting 51%. In a great show of improvement, he went from shooting 47% from the line last year to 69% this year.
Shaq MckIssic has been pretty consistent with ASU, scoring 14 points in their most recent game, a win over UCLA. He's averaging 11 points ppg on the season. Unfortunately for Sai Tummala, he's buried on the bench at ASU, playing only 51 minutes all season.

Former Titan target and Saginaw native Jalen Adams is transferring from St. Bonaventure. Adams was a red shirt in 2013-14 and played sparingly in 2014-15. Ironically, a freshman guard named Jaylen Adams took most of the minutes that Jalen was in line for this past season. Jalen had a very good high school career at Arthur Hill, which is known for producing D1 talent. The Titans were interested in him a couple of years ago, but I don't know what the interest level is now. campuswatch.buffalonews.com/2015/04/02/two-reserves-will-transfer-from-st-bona-basketball-team/

In the "Should Have Chosen the Titans" category:
Barry Hayes @hoopstarscanada 2h2 hours ago 6'11" redshirt freshman Miro Jaksic (Windsor, ON) will transfer from NCAA D1 Grand Canyon, as per ESPN's Transfer List.

I dunno. I recall Miro was getting a lot of late high-major interest, but mainly it seemed based on potential. As a RS freshman last year he played in just 13 games, averaging 6 minutes and 2.8 points, and playing in just one of their final 15 games. Sounds like he'll drop down to D-II or NAIA.

Another blast from the past - Flint's Richie Lewis, after a year at CC, started as a soph at Nicholls State last year. He has announced that he is transferring. He was another kid who left the state for "prep school" that only seemed to harm his original recruiting.

I was actually thinking of it from Miro's perspective. Unless he really liked the weather, it didn't do much for him to pick up and move to Arizona. Sometimes a project type player will do better with his friends and support system nearby. Maybe that would have been the case here. Of course, there is no way to know for sure either way. I had hoped he would end up being a better player, but he's another example that perceived potential doesn't always result in performance. On the plus side for Miro, he'll have two or three years to make an impact, depending on where he lands. Another "project" we were looking at Tanveer Bhullar, only played in a few games for New Mexico State this past season.

He was another kid who left the state for "prep school" that only seemed to harm his original recruiting. Not sure what Rickie is thinking with this move. He played 25 minutes per game for Nicholls State. Seems like a good situation for him. Had some highlight games, with 14 points against UCLA. Maybe he's having problems with the staff, or just thinks he can do better. Maybe he's homesick. As you said, that prep school move certainly seemed to backfire on him. I remember him getting solid mid major interest and he seemed to be on an upward trend in Flint. His momentum ground to a halt once he left the state. If you can play, you'll get noticed in Michigan. You've got Beilein and Izzo right here, along with Detroit, Oakland, EMU, CMU, and WMU. You don't have to leave Michigan to "get exposure".

So, Lorenzo Bonam must have de-committed from Southern Mississippi because he is now with Utah.
