And he was almost a Titan... :-( Had he been able to qualify, he'd likely have been the pure PG we needed last year and for the next two years.

Former Titan commit Lorenzo Bonam got a mention in the early ESPN top 25 ranking. He was highlighted as a key player for Utah this coming season.
Man, we were so close to having a potentially great team the past couple of years. Bonam, DeBerry, and Simpson are all former Titan COMMITS who will be playing for top level programs this coming season. And that's not even counting a fourth commit, Shaq in the Box, who played the last two seasons at Arizona State. What could have been...
You really have to give the staff credit for identifying and gaining commitments from players with this ability, especially DeBerry and Bonam, who would have been Titans if not for academic issues. McKissic just changed his mind, but Simpson was a Titan until DePaul had a guard in their 2014 class not qualify. Bad luck.

Former Titan target and Saginaw native Jalen Adams is transferring from St. Bonaventure. Adams was a red shirt in 2013-14 and played sparingly in 2014-15. Ironically, a freshman guard named Jaylen Adams took most of the minutes that Jalen was in line for this past season. Jalen had a very good high school career at Arthur Hill, which is known for producing D1 talent. The Titans were interested in him a couple of years ago, but I don't know what the interest level is now. campuswatch.buffalonews.com/2015/04/02/two-reserves-will-transfer-from-st-bona-basketball-team/Jalen Adams is now at Mott Community College. He had a red shirt freshman year at St. Bonaventure, played very little the next year, and now is at JUCO. He's gotta make the right choice on where to play after this season. Hopefully he has a good JUCO year and is able to garner similar interest to what he had coming out of Arthur Hill.

I dunno. I recall Miro was getting a lot of late high-major interest, but mainly it seemed based on potential. As a RS freshman last year he played in just 13 games, averaging 6 minutes and 2.8 points, and playing in just one of their final 15 games. Sounds like he'll drop down to D-II or NAIA. I was actually thinking of it from Miro's perspective. Unless he really liked the weather, it didn't do much for him to pick up and move to Arizona. Sometimes a project type player will do better with his friends and support system nearby. Maybe that would have been the case here. Of course, there is no way to know for sure either way. I had hoped he would end up being a better player, but he's another example that perceived potential doesn't always result in performance. On the plus side for Miro, he'll have two or three years to make an impact, depending on where he lands. Another "project" we were looking at Tanveer Bhullar, only played in a few games for New Mexico State this past season. Miro finds a new home. AJ West had the kind of game recently that makes me wish more than ever he had committed to the Titans. On Tuesday, he scored 18 points and grabbed 19 rebounds, while blocking three shots and getting two assists. He shot 6-6 from the floor and 6-6 from the free throw line. That game followed a 12 point, 17 rebound, 5 block performance on Saturday. On the season he is averaging 13, 11, and 3, while shooting 51%. In a great show of improvement, he went from shooting 47% from the line last year to 69% this year. Shaq MckIssic has been pretty consistent with ASU, scoring 14 points in their most recent game, a win over UCLA. He's averaging 11 points ppg on the season. Unfortunately for Sai Tummala, he's buried on the bench at ASU, playing only 51 minutes all season. Now, this is just rubbing salt in the wound. I had no idea until today that AJ West had another year of eligibility at Nevada in 2015-16. They are expecting another big year from him and he is a preseason all conference pick. I am going to try not to torture myself by looking at the Nevada box scores this year and contemplating what might have been. I'm glad to see him doing so well. There were questions about his attitude, but he's been a good citizen. There were those Titan fans who thought we were better off without him, but I can't imagine anyone saying that now.

Sure would have been nice to get Lorenzo. His loss due to academics ended up being a much greater blow than it looked at the time. I'm happy for him, but I wish he was a Titan.

Got a good look at Lorenzo Bonam last night when Utah played Texas Tech. Bonam scored 20 points and added seven rebounds and four assists in 33 minutes. 8-10 from the line and only 1 turnover. Wow.

Tuned in to the Utah vs Stanford game last night just in time to hear the announcers raving about Lorenzo Bonam. The kid is averaging ten points, three rebounds, and three assists. He's shooting 54% from the floor, 78 % from the line and he's 11-19 on the season from three point range.
Grrrr.

Stephen Spurlock, a one time Titan target for the class of 2013 before he went the prep school route, played two minutes and went scoreless for Maryland Eastern Shore in their blowout loss to Virginia Tech. AJ West shot only 1-6 from the floor in 28 minutes for Nevada against Cal Poly, but he went 4-6 from the line and had eight rebounds and six blocked shots. Spurlock on the move. He wasn't really a Titan recruit, but he was one of the top recruits in the nation in the class of 2013. James Young barely held on to a roster spot in Boston, after struggling his first two years as a pro after a so so year at Kentucky. He beat out recent mid major hero RJ Hunter, of Georgia State. Of course, RJ's dad Ron Hunter is the head coach at GSU, where Ray McCallum is the associate head coach. Would have been nice for the two of them to each have a son playing in the NBA this season. Hopefully, RJ sticks with someone. www.masslive.com/celtics/index.ssf/2016/10/james_young_beats_out_rj_hunte.html
